Everyone in our military community has a "SUPERPOWER" through Mentorship. American Corporate Partners (ACP) is a powerful tool in your toolbox. Whether you're a Military Spouse deciding on which career or business plan to embark on, a Student Veteran who is looking to be competitive upon graduation or a transitioning Service Member who is focused on gaining insight into their intended industry. Getting a Mentor helps you to gain focus and chart a path based on information not emotions and hearsay.
Success is achieved not in solitude, but through the strength of partnerships. At ACP, we stand firm in our belief that collaboration is the cornerstone of progress for military families. Representing ACP at the 757 Career Fair, our very own Whitney Chism experienced firsthand the transformative impact of partnerships! Beyond connecting with transitioning Veterans and Military Spouses, Whitney engaged with representatives from Hampton Roads Veterans Employment Center (HRVEC), Mission Technologies, a division of HII, and local reps from Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Program . Collaborative efforts such as this strive to recruit military candidates in various fields including airlines, IT, healthcare, leadership, and more, showcasing the power of collective action to achieve positive outcomes for the military community. Special thanks to Sultan Camp, Cassie Dawson , Matthew Jordan , Amy Hutchison, MA, AFC®, CWDP, Ming Morford, Elizabeth Pelto and Tricia Storey. #Partnership #Collaboration #MilitaryFamilies #Veterans #MilitarySpouses

"I send out 100 applications a week... I don't know what I'm doing wrong. No body wants to hire veterans" I know what you're doing wrong. You're sending out 100 applications a week... While you're wasting paper and other people's time I can tell you what you aren't doing right too. 1. You Aren't Networking. Every resume should have a target and that target should have a name... not the name of a company... a human name! If you don't know and have spoken to someone that works for the employer... you aren't networking hard enough. 2. You Aren't Targeting. It takes a polished pro about 15-20 minutes to tailor their resume for a particular opportunity. One resume=one job. If you are using the same resume for more than one employer then you're resumes aren't tailored and they are probably going in the trash. 3. You Aren't Marketing Yourself. You are right about one thing, nobody wants to hire veterans. Why? Because there is no such job as "veteran". "What do you do for work Paul?" "I veteran... I've been veteraning all week. Veteraning is up 20% this quarter". Employers are hiring program managers, project coordinators, production supervisors, human resource manager, account executives and so forth. Stop leaning on what you USED to do and market who you ARE! Need help? Come see us at RecruitMilitary. We have employers, career opportunities, resources, webinars, video content, job fairs and much more. www.recruitmilitary.com #transitioningservciemembers #recruitmilitary #hiring #veteranemployment

This is a great breakdown of how to adjust the job hunt to maximize your opportunity for the career you want. It took me a long time to understand these valuable recommendations, in fact, it never hit home for me until I was looking for that perfect candidate as a hiring manager. 1. Yes, networking is huge! I've had individuals reach out in person, through email/text, or even a reference from a friend to express interest. There will most likely be others who have the same qualifications, if not exceed the value of your resume. However, bringing someone on the team who is trusted, respected, and wanting to grow is an individual that I look for in a potential coworker. 2. This is a major turn off. When I read a cover letter that is obviously a template, I immediately question the intentions. I typically give grace because I've been in a spot where I just needed a job to support my family. But, those who are too lazy to change a resume based on the specific job they want tend to be tough to work with. Focus on the job you want. Focus for those 20 minutes to personalize your application. And even though you know your resume inside and out, have someone look it over. 3. This is the toughest part for me. I was brought up to be humble. Which means I don't like to talk about myself. I know there have been times in my working career that I didn't get a job or a promotion because of my lack to market myself. However, this can make or break your chance at landing the gig. Be confident, speak on the impact you've made, and just be you. If you qualify for the job, and you want it, go get it! #YouBelongHere #BJCCareers #Hiring

November is National Military Family Month. Service-members get a ton of credit, and rightly so in my book. But their families, spouses and children, are often overlooked as supporting cast. The truth of the matter is, military service is a family commitment. It isn't just a career choice, it's a lifestyle. The transition from active duty to civilian is difficult and winding. Find a way to Veterans and their families in your community. Hire them. Coach them. Review a resume for them. Practice an interview with them. Talk to your HR team about setting up DoD-SkillBridge partnerships. Search out military communities for hiring/job fairs with Hiring Our Heroes. There are a ton of ways to really make a difference. The photo below is from my last day of Active Duty. Little did that young man realize the journey ahead. #VeteransDay2024

Practicing DSA is like military drills – soldiers don't drill because there's a war every day, but to stay ready. Regular DSA practice keeps you sharp for job interviews and real-world problem-solving. It's about staying prepared and confident, not just for the big moments, but for everyday challenges. #TechCareer #CodingInterview #DSA #CareerGrowth

Are you a change resistor? Do you cling to the past? Are you warm and secure in the blanket of the status quo? It's amazing how many people I have to actually CONVINCE that networking is time well spent. It's like trying to convince a fish that water is good. But in 20 years of military service we never found networking to be "a thing"... only hard work, dedication, sacrifice and discipline. But these days, you must be networked! Job fairs, networking events, LinkedIn... these are not "nice to do" things. These are vital to your success! So with confronted with the reality that you need to adapt to a new mode of successful career navigation... will you adapt? Or will you cling to the past while the early adopters out there start doing laps around you? What adaptations and evolutions have you made to advance your career? Are you a veteran or transitioning servicemember in search of a meaningful career? Visit us at www.recruitmilitary.com to start your next career. Jobs, resources, resume webinars, employment skills classes, skillbridge opportunities. Come on by and take a knee. We've got your 6.

2moHave to say QED has an amazing Fab shop and logistics team that can handle most tasks. They knocked out install material from drawings for me in the past with record speed and quality. I’d recommend them on any effort to include our Aviation side of the house.
