𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜? (I wish someone had told me this sooner) I could be winding down for bed and getting ready for work tomorrow, but instead, I’m drafting yet another LinkedIn post. Why? Because a conversation with my friend Youcef Derder has been on repeat in my mind. I remember him talking about his post style—he doesn’t use a facade. He writes with genuine authenticity, much like a “follow my journey” blog. This approach creates real interest and engagement, making his audience eagerly anticipate each new chapter in his story. As for me, I've been fixated on metrics like impressions and likes, which has led me to seem a bit inauthentic and even fake. So, I’ve decided to take a page from Youcef Derder’s book and bring authenticity to my posts. I want to share my real experiences—the highs and lows—of being a 20-year-old trying to break into the tech industry without nepotism or a traditional university degree. Here’s what I’m doing to bring more authenticity to my LinkedIn journey: 1. Starting the “Weekly Non-Technical Chronicles” - A genuine update each week about my DevOps journey. 2. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 - Both the struggles and victories. 3. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 - With the help of my network at CoderCo. 4. 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - By sharing real stories and insights. Even if it’s just one more person who feels connected to my journey, I’ll consider it a win. Stay tuned, and here’s to a great rest of the day! P.S. Since we’re being authentic, here’s a picture of my desk after a long day of working on my GitHub repositories. Feel free to have a look at my repositories and see what I’ve been up to! #authenticity #devopsjourney #buildinginpublic
I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot considering my Linkedln too!! We often focus on reinforcing the technical side of our journey all the time in our posts which takes away the authenticity of our real journey presented on LinkedIn. I’ll definitely be trying to use this balanced approach in the future! loved this post, thanks for sharing 🙌
Good move bro, it's fine if you should've known this sooner, all that matters is that you'll thank yourself in the future 🤎
I'm looking forward to the after desk setup 🔥
Looking forward to it 🙌🏾
Good stuff Qais!
Hmmmmm... I might need to jump this too!
Great stuff brother 👏
Looking forward to following your journey! 👌🏽
