The life of an event production professional can be tough. Long days and short breaks are the norm, but taking care of ourselves is essential. However, it's not always easy to balance our needs with the demands of the industry. Our clients expect us to be on call all the time, even during meals and breaks. As event organizers, please remember that your production team is made up of humans who need both meal and bio breaks. It's no longer acceptable to run sessions for five hours straight without giving attendees or crew a chance to rest. Meal breaks and short breaks throughout the day are not just a union requirement, they're essential to keeping your crew fueled and focused on delivering high-quality service. Attendees used to be comfortable attending sessions from home in their pajamas a few short years ago, but now they want a chance to stretch their legs and refresh themselves too. Please don’t forget about your crew's basic human needs when planning out your conference journey. Squeezing in micro sessions or rehearsals during every tiny break opportunity can take a toll on our team.
