Last week a crucial milestone was reached at Origin Energy's Eraring battery facility in New South Wales, Australia. 🔋 The site’s substation is now connected to the grid and will be supporting one of the largest energy storage systems in the world to date! ⚡

The New York State Public Service Commission approved a new framework for the state to achieve 6 GW of energy storage by 2030. This would establish New York state as the energy storage leader in the US. The plan: (i) contains set of recommendations to expand New York's energy storage programs; (ii) will support a buildout of storage deployments estimated to reduce projected future statewide electric system costs by nearly USD 2bn; (iii) approaches energy storage development in a way that advances the elimination of the state's most polluting fossil fuel power plants; and (iv) focuses on procuring an additional 4.7 GW of new storage projects across the bulk (large-scale), retail (community, commercial and industrial), and residential energy storage sectors in New York State. 

The first stage of Eraring’s Large-Scale Battery Energy Storage Project is officially energised 🔋💡 The site’s new substation is now connected to the grid, kicking off commissioning and remaining on target to commence operations late next year.    This is another step forward as we adapt the Eraring site for the future, and continue to support the delivery of secure and reliable energy for Australian households and businesses.

Reposted from MAREC Action: A new American Clean Power Association (ACP) report shows that, in the last two years, the U.S. clean energy industry has announced $500 billion in new investments, spurring the American economy and creating tens of thousands of new jobs.  There are four online and operating clean energy manufacturing facilities in the PJM states including Nucor Corporation in Kentucky, First Solar and Illuminate USA in Ohio, and Nextracker Inc./JM Steel in Pennsylvania. All these facilities have created jobs to power America. Illuminate is the first and largest U.S. plant to produce high-quality (550w) solar panels and recently announced they have 1000 employees—or “Illuminators”—at the massive new 5GW facility announced in March 2023 with production starting less than a year later. This significant job creation is a key benefit of the clean energy sector and a testament to its growth. EPCs, MEES and the Future of Energy Performance – Part 2 (England and Wales) Part 2 of our series on energy performance in England and Wales focuses on Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), brought in by the Energy Efficiency (Private Rented Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015. MEES requires properties to have an EPC rating of 'E' or above to be let. Exemptions to this rule exist but are specific, non-transferable, and time-limited, often requiring documentation and local authority notifications. Our article explains the exemptions, the process for registering them, and the necessary improvements for properties rating ‘F’ or ‘G’. We also explore how the future of energy performance assessments will focus more on carbon emissions than just energy efficiency, with modern technologies like heat pumps and renewables likely to improve EPC ratings. https://lnkd.in/e7WcdzjM
