Today marks the ten-year anniversary of Braxton Slager's tragic death, a poignant reminder of the profound failures within our child protection system, which has persisted for decades. Braxton's story transcends personal tragedy, it serves as a glaring indictment of how NGOs and DCJ have operated, prioritising profit over the well-being of vulnerable children. At just 22 months old, Braxton was placed in an environment by Life Without Barriers that was anything but safe, a space described as a "dumping ground," by police and paramedics, where he was left for dead in the care of unfit individuals. The suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, with Braxton lifeless body found floating in a swimming pool and evidence of drugs in his system, highlight a systemic failure that cannot be ignored. It is heartbreaking and unacceptable to recognise that the findings of his death labeled it a "tragic preventable accident," allowing those responsible to evade accountability, it’s evident, Life Without Barriers learnt nothing from these court findings. As we remember Braxton today, we must ensure that his death is not in vain. It is crucial to reflect on the lives of other innocent children lost and destroyed due to similar neglect and systemic failures. We must unite as advocates for change, demanding that our child protection system be reformed to genuinely prioritise the safety and well-being of every child, in the name of Braxton’s Law. Let us honor Braxton's memory by committing ourselves to protect our vulnerable children and ensuring that their voices are heard. The time for action, transparency is now, a system that truly safeguards those who cannot protect themselves. We cannot allow NGOs and DCJ to continue hijacking our child protection system. This must come to an end. We must strive for a better future for the vulnerable children who have already suffered too much pain and trauma by being in this system. It is imperative that management be returned to DCJ, to stop them avoiding their responsibilities and establish some sort of accountability, eliminating the role of NGOs and terminating the PSP program, which was designed to profit off our vulnerable children trauma, only benefiting NGOs not children. LIFE WITHOUT BRAXTON 13/9/2014 RIP 💔

Why is aftercare important in your funeral home? I think it's our best opportunity to go the extra mile for families. They're in one of the hardest times of their lives. A solid aftercare program can make families feel safe, protected, and loved. Aftercare is important because it's how we can love our neighbor. #FunrealDirector #FuneralHome #ServiceBasedAftercare
