Neuroinclusive communication is beneficial for everyone in the workplace and shouldn't be solely the responsibility of a neurodivergent employee to advocate for and try to implement. Yes, workplace adjustments are an option for your employees and many of these wouldn't be needed in the first place if your workplace was committed to embracing differences and creating an inclusive working environment. Take a look at this list and consider, could these neuroinclusive communication tips be relevant and beneficial for your whole team. We'll bet the answer is yes! - Clear communication - when communicating requests or demands, write this down and avoid vague language. A simple process to follow is 'what by when'. Keep it simple, and to the point. If there are specific instructions, include them. - Do not assume - ask your colleagues and employees how they receive and process information best. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to processing information. - Send clear agendas in advance of meetings to all staff so everyone can prepare and know what is expected of them. - Direct communication is often best when working with neurodivergent colleagues. Give examples when giving feedback and clear feedback where things went well. There are so many more examples and we'd love to hear your suggestions and success stories on this topic! We also really appreciate this fantastic visual created by Chris Hooten Consulting that offers more clarity. #neurodiversity #communication #workplacesupport #communicationpreferences
