SPE VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR 2024 I was opportune to attend the 2024 SPE virtual career fair that held on the 30th of April to 2nd of May, three topics were discussed on each day and attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions concerning the industry or the topic being discussed. It was really an enlightening event, it opened my mind to the opportunities SPE as an organization offers to it's members. I have being a student member of the organization but I never really understood the purpose of my membership, attending the three day symposium helped me understand the role SPE can play on my journey in the oil and gas industry and gave me an opportunity to see the industry in different parts of the world through the eyes of aged professionals and young professionals. During the symposium four topics stood out for me, the discussion topics were Young professionals in energy, How to use AI effectively in your studies ,New technologies that change the way we do oil and gas and Personal branding and networking. I got to hear the the experiences and struggles of other young professionals in the industry and got some advice on how to make myself relevant in the large industry of oil and gas. The event was truly amazing, it's important as students going into industries to study beyond the class room, if you are opportune, join workshops, seminars or trainings, you may not see the useful outcome now, but those meetings and skills may become a gateway to something bigger and you never know who you will meet that can serve as a step on your journey to the top.

Add a Professional Photo: Upload a clear professional photo of yourself to your profile picture. Go to ‘My profile’ to add your profile picture. 3. Access the VCF: Log In to the WAN PNG Platform: On the VCF day, go to the WAN PNG platform on www.wanpng.com and click on login; enter your personal details and log in to your jobseeker account. Navigate to the Event: Go to the Virtual Career fair tab as shown on the screenshot below to go through the list of upcoming and available virtual career fairs and click on the one you have registered for. Join the Event: Click on the event Zoom Link provided or click the button to enter the virtual career fair. Join Zoom Meeting https://lnkd.in/emN-zMp8 Meeting ID: 865 6341 9067 Passcode: 622387. Ensure you join with a muted video/voice as you're ONLY allowed to to chat via the dialogue box. Zoom can ONLY be accessed directly on the phone or web NOT through Wan PNG Apps on Android or iSO App for Apple iPhones. 4. Explore the Virtual Fair ·      Visit Virtual Booths: Talk to the three companies online ·      By companies. View company profiles, job listings, and other resources. Use the chat feature to connect with Employers for Q&A, Q&A is visible to all job seekers who are online. Be professional while you a conversing live online. The Employers may set up their own webinar or Zoom links for further one on one sessions if they wish for this to happen. This link can be shared to the jobseekers so keep an eye out for this option. 5. Network and Follow Up: After the event, check back online as some employers may reach out to you on your Wan PNG account. 6. Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) Career Fair Student Perspective We had an amazing turnout at the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) Virtual Career Fair, and for Tewoflos Tewoldeberhan (Tef) the experience was a game-changer! 💼 Tef's Highlights: During the group sessions, Tef appreciated the opportunity to connect with companies in a more personalized way. Reflecting on the experience, Tef shared, “Attending the GLCA virtual career fair provided me with an excellent opportunity to connect with companies in a personalized way. The ability to schedule meetings and research companies in advance allowed me to ask tailored questions about the roles they offer and the type of talent they seek.” The 1-on-1 sessions were especially impactful, providing Tef with the chance to engage in deeper conversations. “I was able to have individualized coffee chats with recruiters and employees at 4 different companies, and having that during a typically busy hiring season is very valuable, since it's something that is usually hard to secure," Tef said, recounting a meaningful aspect of the event. Beyond just networking, the fair resulted in tangible outcomes for Tef. “These conversations were engaging and provided great insight into the inner workings of different organizations, and since then, I have secured 2 role-specific introductory interviews.
