Unlocking EU investment potential for Health The role of EU funds in planing the changes and reforms in regard to national budget calculations is fundamental. This reduces the direct impact of the Reform on the budget, and hence improves the return on investment from the perspective of the national budget. Furthermore, it provides reassurances that the reforms will be implemented through sound and detailed projects. Today, our board member Elena Moya delivered a presentation on why health systems must deliver with patients at Pharma 2024, organised by Reuters Events in Barcelona. During her presentation, she showcased why patient involvement is non-negotiable when it comes to the success of our healthcare systems. Before diving into technical solutions to strengthen the involvement of the patient community, she emphasised the importance of understanding why patient involvement is so crucial and how it adds value to healthcare systems. Patients' practical understanding of healthcare systems is essential in developing services that align with their needs. To make this possible, we need to promote a cultural shift in how we interact with patients. #PatientPerspective

This week, European Patients' Forum team is joining the in-person edition of the Patient Engagement Open Forum (#PEOF2024) event in Baveno, Italy. 📢 🗓 On the second day, we had the “Navigating Ethical Waters: COI Training”, a session taking inspiration from (but not limited to) the much waited #HTA Implementing Act on Conflict of Interest. Participants from different stakeholder groups were invited to identify practical solutions to navigate the various types of conflict-of-interest policies. These policies vary between decision-makers, creating a range of potential barriers to patient participation in decision making. We gathered useful insights and practical solutions (including trainings, awareness raising, funding schemes) both from patients and industry representatives.
