The decisions we make today will shape regions and local authorities for the next 50 years—a key takeaway from the discussions among members and invited guests of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). Mayors and representatives from 41 countries gathered this week for the Leaders Summit, hosted as part of the CEMR Policy Committee. Can mobility planning tools help cities create more sustainable and efficient urban mobility systems? This question took center stage during an insightful panel discussion featuring our colleague Peter Möhl. As he noted, "Digital tools now open up more opportunities than ever to design public transport in a forward-looking way." By leveraging cost-effective planning, cities can deliver attractive, reliable services embedded in a holistically designed mobility system of the future. 🤝 👍 A standout highlight at our booth was the Apple Vision Pro use case, presented by Jonathan Knöfel. Attendees like Helmut Rigger, District Administrator of Calw , and Dr. Christoph Schnaudigel, District Administrator of Karlsruhe, experienced cutting-edge digital solutions for urban mobility firsthand. Thank you to everyone who stopped by! Landratsamt Karlsruhe #MobilityforHumanity

At the 16th Global Peter Drucker Forum in Vienna, Julian had the chance to discuss with Thomas Kirste from Bosch about Knowledge Ecosystems 🌐🤝. Thomas shared a valuable takeaway: ecosystems are increasingly recognized as essential frameworks for collaboration, innovation, and tangible business value 🚀💡. The concept of a "knowledge ecosystem" is emerging as a powerful way to foster connections that turn ideas into real-world projects and economic value. In their discussions, a key challenge emerged—how to make the ecosystem model accessible and actionable for organizations 🧩. While there’s widespread acknowledgment of its importance, integrating ecosystems into existing structures remains complex, especially with the apprehension many leaders feel about stepping into new territories and embracing open collaboration. This fear is only amplified in times of global uncertainty 🌍, where the instinct is often to fall back on familiar approaches. 🎥 Watch the full video to get all the insights: https://lnkd.in/gCzp_32r 📚Or read the blog post: https://lnkd.in/gbR-PVxc (jetzt auch auf Deutsch verfügbar 🇩🇪) But as both Thomas and Julian observe, sticking to past practices isn’t enough for the structural changes we’re seeing today 🔄. To adapt, organizations will need to explore new frameworks that foster resilience and collaboration in an increasingly dynamic world. Thank you Thomas Kirste for your insights! #GlobalPeterDruckerForum #EcosystemMindset #KnowledgeEcosystems #Collaboration #Innovation #BusinessTransformation

The Czech IDC Digital Future Awards 2024 saw its grand awards ceremony yesterday evening at CSOB. In my jury category, The Future of Connectedness, we were selecting from three final projects: - Skupina COOP with their automated 24/7 stores, - OICT with urban mobility app, and - Prague Airport with their system LetGis. We selected COOP 24/7 stores as the category winner, but believe me - it was not easy, all these projects were mind blowing in their complexity. Mobility - the use of mobile devices/ mobile connectivity is an integral part of all these digital projects. Throughout the competition, the project leaders had to demonstrate a quite broad skill set: present and defend their projects in terms of vision, strategy, technology used, scalability and transferability, demonstrate impact of the project within the organization and externally how the project is impacting their customers and partners. Sitting next to these leaders and talking with them about their projects is always the best part of the competition for me - understanding their motivations, what went wrong and how to avoid it, what went well and what can we all learn from it, …and who are these leaders personally. Their personality and strong interest in driving the project forward are the foundation of success. Special thanks to my fellow jury members: Martin Soucek, David Pěknic, Jan Švehla, Pavla Lazarová, and David Bennet - for all the discussions we had and inspiration we could share, always pleasure to spend time with you. #DigitalInnovation #MobileConnectivity #TechLeadership

Up🌟 Event Recap: “In-Conversation with Board Chairs and NRC Chairs” 🌟 This is the second event this year co-hosted by QED and INSEAD International Director Network Singapore (#IDPSG). Today’s session was a huge success! Thanks Ryan Lim, MSID and Natasha Z. for the partnership! 🌟 My opening remarks: A #boardchair is akin to a conductor in an orchestra - steering and guiding the pace so that they produce harmonious music collectively. While the importance of a board chair is widely acknowledged, the role of the #NRC chair is often underappreciated. From #successionplanning and selection members with the right competencies, to promoting a healthy #boardculture, the NRC chair plays a crucial role in enabling #boardperformance. Using the orchestra analogy, NRC chairs and committees select the right players to form a high-performing orchestra, working alongside the board chair. 🌟 **Key Insights from Our Recent Interactive Panel Discussion: Effective #Boards** 🌟 1. What Makes an Effective Board? - **Dynamic Debates**: Robust, informed discussions are crucial, even without consensus. - **Transparency and Trust**: A safe space to express diverse views and remove biases and egos. - **#Fiduciary Duties**: Commit seriously, behave ethically, and prepare thoroughly. 2. Selecting #Board Members - **#Criticalthinking, beyond a specific skill set**: crucial for handling today’s complexity and uncertainty. - **#Adaptability and #OpenMindedness**: Ability and courage to express their independent views without being inflexible. - **#Alignment with Mission**: For #NGO boards, emphathy, and alignment with the mission and vision, is vital. 3. What Makes an #EffectiveBoard Chair? - **Managing #BoardDynamics**: Balancing direct guidance with nurturing management growth, keeping biases and ego out of the boardroom - **#StrategicThinking**: Steering conversations in alignment with the company strategy to enable a robust decision making process - **Time Commitment**: Building relationships to effectively leverage each board member’s strengths and connections. 4. Embracing #Purposeful Diversity (Beyond Gender) - **Mitigate #BlindSpots**: Cognitive and stewardship diversity enhances board composition and performance - **Strategic Alignment **: #Boardrenewal brings diverse perspectives and competences needed for future growth 5. Considering Leaving the Board.. - **Duty Fulfillment**: Ensure you’ve fulfilled your duties as a board member before departing - **Defensible Reasons**: Provide amble notice with valid reasons - not due to compliance issues Thank you Gerard Ee Paul W Chan Liengseng Wee for the insights, and Kay Pang for the excellent moderation. It was great to see so many INSEAD IDN Singapore alumni again! #BoardGovernance #Leadership #BoardDiversity #FiduciaryDuties #BoardEffectiveness #CorporateGovernance #NonprofitLeadership

Building transatlantic partnerships for smart infrastructure: Last week, COMCODE attended the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.'s Transatlantic Insights into Smart Cities & Sustainable Mobility event. We spoke with German and American industry representatives on the innovations, issues, and future developments of smart cities with an emphasis on the importance of securing this emerging technology while addressing the myriad issues facing contemporary urban development. Thank you to the German Consulate General New York for hosting this event, and to each of the speakers for your impactful contributions to the dialogue. While there's still a long way to go in establishing security by design principles in smart infrastructure, we're optimistic that events such as this one will highlight the importance of cybersecurity in digital transformation. #smartcity #securitybydesign #transatlantic #newyork
