Breaking Boundaries: My Eye-Opening Exchange Experience in Malaysia 🌍✨ This semester, I took a leap of faith and it has been nothing short of extraordinary! As one of six students representing the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), I joined a 4 month mobility program in collaboration with INTI International University, Malaysia. What makes this journey special? It’s not just the 20 credits I’m earning or the mix of online and in-person classes it’s the transformative experiences along the way. From exploring Mass Communication alongside Psychology, to presenting my ideas and collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds, I’ve learned lessons far beyond the textbooks. But the magic truly happens outside the classroom. Adapting to a new academic and cultural environment has been an adventure of self-discovery. From engaging in campus events to forming friendships across the globe, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. Each day has been a masterclass in adaptability, curiosity, and embracing challenges with an open heart. As a psychology student, seeing how cultural nuances influence behavior has been a revelation. Every conversation is a lesson, every interaction a new perspective. This exchange isn’t just a program it’s a gateway to a world of possibilities. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone, and I’m taking home more than just knowledge: I’m carrying stories, friendships, and a broader understanding of the world. Here’s to growth, connection, and chasing new horizons! 🌟 #GlobalLearning #CulturalExchange #PsychologyInAction #StudentLife #NewHorizons

Amd., CH., CHt., CI., LMP-NLP, ACC, APCP, CLA., CIRP., CCP., The above are titles commonly found in Indonesia. The culture of showing off in Indonesia can be attributed to various unique cultural and social factors. One primary reason is social values and status. In many Asian cultures, including Indonesia, social status is often measured through academic and professional achievements. Degrees and titles are often seen as symbols of success that are widely recognized by society. Therefore, showcasing degrees or titles can provide high social recognition and enhance a person's reputation in the eyes of others. Additionally, historical and economic factors also play a role. In Indonesia, the increasing access to education and the growing number of university graduates have made academic degrees more common. However, these degrees still hold high prestige because not everyone has the same opportunity to obtain them. Thus, showing off a degree can be seen as a way to demonstrate personal success and the effort that has been invested. Conversely, in many Western countries, such as the United States and European nations, the culture of individualism places more emphasis on personal achievements and tangible contributions rather than formal degrees or titles. Although academic degrees are important, the main focus is often more on skills, experience, and concrete results. The work culture in the West tends to be more egalitarian, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation rather than formal hierarchy. This makes people less likely to highlight their academic degrees in everyday interactions. Moreover, social norms in Western countries often prioritize modesty and humility. Displaying personal achievements can be perceived as boastfulness or inconsistent with the egalitarian values they uphold. People are more valued for their actions and tangible contributions than for formal status symbols. In the end after the pandemic, we all deserve to hold the title “LMP”—Legendary Mask-wearing Practitioner.

👨🏼🎓💸Did you know about this key finding in our newly published research? ... Connection to Māori culture is valuable. Many people inherently know this, and we measured some of the value it bestows. Māori students who study Māori at NCEA level 3 have higher te reo Māori proficiency as adults than similar students who do not, and such men also report less loneliness and more control over their lives. This highlights the value of connection for Māori to Māori to culture, despite finding no evidence such study improves labour market outcomes. But recent cultural shifts could mean future students will also benefit financially from Māori cultural skills. 👉🏽We have analysed pathways through education that lead to strong outcomes for Māori students, and how these differ by gender, different interests and abilities. The research focuses on both labour market and non-labour market outcomes, aiming to guide career advice and policy development for Māori students of all ages. “It’s Best That I Quit” - An article by Grandmaster Taejoon Lee in the June 2024 Issue of Budo International: “To truly evolve and thrive, individuals must embrace introspection, challenge themselves to confront internal obstacles, and actively pursue personal growth with determination and resilience. This journey toward self-mastery and improvement is essential for breaking free from the cycle of self-pity and realizing one’s full potential. To truly achieve one’s potential and fulfill aspirations, it’s essential to first gain a deep understanding of our own strengths and weaknesses, attributes and liabilities, potentials and limitations. This self-assessment must be conducted with utmost objectivity, based on real facts and patterns of behavior rather than subjective emotional assessments.” Read the Entire Article: https://lnkd.in/erjCbrD2 #hwarang #hwarangdo #taesoodo #martialarts #quit #dontquit #insight #philosophy #motivation #inspiration #selfdiscovery #awareness #determination #taejoonlee #budointernational #화랑 #화랑도 #이태준

"It is liberating dance of authenticity, where masks fall away, and souls meet in raw honesty." Informality liberates us from the constraints of societal expectations, inviting genuine connections grounded in authenticity and vulnerability. It is the casual embrace of our true selves, free from pretence or artifice, where laughter flows effortlessly, and conversations unravel organically. In moments of informality, barriers dissolve, and relationships deepen as we share our joys, sorrows, and aspirations without inhibition. Informality fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie, creating spaces where individuals feel valued for who they are rather than what they represent. It celebrates imperfection, encouraging spontaneity and creativity to flourish. In a world often dictated by formalities, informality serves as a refreshing reminder of our shared humanity, where titles and status hold little sway, and genuine connections reign supreme. Embracing informality allows us to revel in the beauty of authenticity, building bonds that withstand the test of time and enriching our lives with moments of genuine connection and joy. #AkalValues #BuiltByBaruSahib Akal Academy Baru Sahib Eternal University, Baru Sahib Sirmour Akal University Talwandi Sabo The Kalgidhar Society

Victory After Victory! 🏆 We are so grateful to share that Elsa Firlyani and I proudly represented Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and secured 1st Placein a national competition organized by KSPM Universitas Jambi! 🎉. In this competition, we analyzed PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. , one of the most challenging banking issuers due to its complex financials and valuation intricacies. Leveraging a valuation approach inspired by McKinsey's renowned methodology, we offered a unique perspective that set our analysis apart. The journey wasn’t without its challenges. Working remotely while juggling new commitments was no easy task—I'm currently interning, and Elsa is participating in an exchange program abroad. Adapting to these changes and managing our responsibilities required effort and resilience, but we pushed through and emerged victorious. #Competition #UGMPride #EquityResearch #Banking #Achievement

“It’s Best That I Quit” - An article by Grandmaster Taejoon Lee in the June 2024 Issue of Budo International: “Yet, as the only living species endowed by our Creator with the unique ability to change our destiny through the freedom of choice, we possess a remarkable capacity for transformation. However, our contemporary culture often prioritizes feelings over the merit of actions, promoting messages like “do what feels right for you” and “be who you are and never let anyone or anything change you,” which, while intended for well-being, can inadvertently hinder personal evolution. Rather than encouraging self-examination and growth, these sentiments promote self-acceptance without the impetus for change. True growth emerges from critical self-reflection, uncovering the root causes of negative emotions and behaviors, and actively seeking help and guidance for improvement. Unfortunately, our current cultural climate tends to externalize problems, attributing personal struggles solely to systemic injustices and external forces. This externalization reinforces negative habits and characteristics, hindering genuine self-awareness and transformative change.” Read the Entire Article: https://lnkd.in/erjCbrD2 #hwarang #hwarangdo #taesoodo #martialarts #quit #dontquit #insight #philosophy #motivation #inspiration #selfdiscovery #awareness #determination #taejoonlee #budointernational #화랑 #화랑도 #이태준
