It’s easy to get stuck in an error-correction mode in practice. Eventually, this can make practice feel more like a workout than anything else. One thing that helps me combat this is to end all of my practice sessions with something fun. I save 10 minutes at the end of all of my practice sessions to run through guitar pieces that I enjoy even if it’s not what I am working on learning at the moment. Try adding this to your schedule. It’s a wonderful way to end your practice on a positive note! #SpanishGuitarMastery #FlamencoGuitar #ClassicalGuitar #SpanishGuitar #PracticeStrategies #ExpertPerformance #GuitarScience #HowToPractice #LearnGuitarFaster #GuitarPractice #MusicPractice

Don’t assume that just because you can play well in the practice room, you can play well on stage. Performing for others is a different animal and requires its own practice. One of the best ways to practice performance at home is to take five minutes out of your practice schedule and practice walking into your practice room, bowing, and playing just the first few notes of your piece. While you’re outside of your practice room, take a few deep breaths, verbalize your performance goals, and vividly imagine the sound of your first few notes. When you sit down to play, take another deep breath and start playing. Repeat this five times each day. Soon entering and starting will become second nature. This is the beginning of performance practice. Enjoy! #SpanishGuitarMastery #FlamencoGuitar #ClassicalGuitar #SpanishGuitar #PracticeStrategies #ExpertPerformance #GuitarScience #HowToPractice #LearnGuitarFaster #GuitarPractice #MusicPractice

To truly master your instrument, it’s important to get creative with your exercises. Vary your approach—play short, fast, long, slow, and experiment with double or triple tonguing. This variety will not only keep your practice fresh but also help you become more fluid and skilled over time. I love creating looping exercises like the one here because they offer endless possibilities for practice. Whether you’re a trumpet player, brass player, or any kind of instrumentalist, exploring different ways to play will help you achieve mastery. #trumpet #brassplayer #doubletonguing

Pedagogy might be the last thing on the mind of young dancers embarking on a stage career. But this skill set can be incredibly valuable. We interviewed a variety of pedagogy experts, with experience both in the studio and onstage, on why dancers should start focusing on pedagogy sooner rather than later, whether they teach or perform.
