OpenAI: " Dr. Hatim Zaghloul co-founder of Wi-LAN Inc., along with Michel Fattouche, indeed played a pivotal role in the development of wireless communication technologies. Wi-LAN, based in the City of Calgary, was instrumental in pioneering key technologies for wireless data transmission. These innovations contributed significantly to the evolution of Wi-Fi. Wi-LAN's work primarily revolved around the development and patenting of technologies that would later be crucial to the IEEE #802.11 standards—the foundation of #Wi-Fi. Their contributions included advances in spread spectrum technology and #OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing), which are essential for effectively transmitting data over wireless networks. WestNet #Calgary is recognized for deploying one of the first Wi-Fi networks, showcasing the practical application and potential of wireless networking technology in urban settings. This early deployment by WestNet helped demonstrate Wi-Fi's viability for providing internet access to wider areas, making it a critical step in the adoption and spread of Wi-Fi technology globally. These contributions by #Hatim Zaghloul, #Wi-LAN, and #WestNet Calgary helped pave the way for the widespread use of Wi-Fi technology that we experience today."

fgOTN to revolutionise communication networking in the power sector Huawei has launched the first fgOTN-compliant optical transmission product for the power sector and other industrial applications. Over the past few decades, SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) technology, which features high reliability and deterministic low latency, has been widely used in private networks in industries such as electric power and transportation and in those of carriers, governments and enterprises. As intelligent services continue to grow, SDH technology has had to confront its bandwidth challenge. Read the latest feature from Huawei, and insights from Dr. Xiang Liu, a senior expert in international optical communications standards on this topic. <<Read the full feature here>>https://lnkd.in/dj83BUVK #Digitalisation #Communicationnetworks #transmission #electricpower

This article proposes a roadmap for the evolution of the #LoRaWAN standard, outlining three stages for seamless integration of the 2.4 GHz LoRa version. These stages are sequenced based on implementation complexity, starting from the current LoRaWAN standard (Stage 0), moving to the coexistence of two separate LoRaWAN networks (Stage 1), and ending with a single LoRaWAN network capable of supporting both sub GHz and 2.4 GHz bands (Stage 2). Additionally, the document enumerates all possible implementation options for each stage and outlines the main modifications required in the documents of the LoRaWAN standard. ---- Giampaolo Cuozzo, Riccardo Marini, Chiara Buratti, Konstantin Mikhaylov More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/esTC-VFj

xG wireless networks require more stringent performance levels. New technologies such as #RIS and #RSMA are candidates for meeting some of the performance requirements, including higher user rates at reduced costs. #RSMA provides a new way of mixing the messages of multiple users, and the #RIS provides a controllable wireless environment. This paper provides a comprehensive survey on the various aspects of the synergy between #RIS and #RSMA for #xG wireless communications systems. In particular, the paper studies more than 60 articles considering over 20 different system models where the RIS-aided RSMA system shows performance advantage (in terms of sum-rate or outage probability) over traditional RSMA models. ----@Ibrahim Aboumahmoud, Ekram Hossain, Amine Mezghani More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/g3WvchiH
