To combat racial bias in rental housing, it is crucial for both landlords and tenants to be educated on fair housing laws and practices. Landlords should be encouraged to adopt inclusive policies that promote diversity and equal access to housing for all individuals. Tenants should also be aware of their rights and feel empowered to report any instances of discrimination they may encounter. For housing assistance and other services: https://nidhousing.com/

Community Stability Homeowners tend to stay in one location for a longer period, contributing significantly to community stability. This stability fosters a sense of belonging and togetherness among neighbors, creating a tight-knit community. Long-term residents are more likely to participate in local events, support neighborhood initiatives, and engage in community planning efforts. Stable homeownership also has a positive impact on local schools, as consistent enrollment allows schools to plan and provide better educational resources. Local businesses benefit as well, with a steady customer base that supports the local economy. Overall, the well-being of the neighborhood is enhanced through reduced crime rates, better-maintained properties, and stronger social networks. Investing in real estate is not just about finding a dream home, but also about becoming a part of a thriving community. Want to explore more? We are making a difference in #Baltimore City by investing in sustainable and affordable housing solutions. WaterBottle is a #workerownedcooperative that purchases, renovates and then rents high quality, affordable housing for residents in West Baltimore. WaterBottle is the parent company to Appalachian Field Services (home renovation and maintenance) and Rising Housing (Property Management). We are a solution to Baltimore City’s vacant housing problem. Vacant housing directly impacts development, crime, and community health. Our mission is to empower under-served communities by providing safe and Eco-friendly housing options while promoting #cooperative community ownership and management. The Baltimore City government owns only 10% of the vacant housing in the city. The rest are privately owned. The city has nearly 15,000 vacant homes and nearly nine out of 10 of them are located in areas with high concentrations of both vacancy and poverty. 8 in 10 vacant properties have been abandoned for decades and are effectively no longer part of the local housing market. These properties are concentrated in East Baltimore, West Baltimore, and Park Heights, where they perpetuate population decline and desperate living conditions. They also cost the city over $200 million dollars every year in mitigation costs and lost revenues.

Veteran Housing Corp would challenge you to be the judge of how effective the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Choice Neighborhood Planning Grants have been in the past! https://www.hud.gov/cn Slick brochures from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development do not tell the whole story! Americans need and deserve transparency and accountability as to how their tax dollars are spent! Veteran Housing Corp would suggest that every American should demand transparency from every local, state, and federal government agency and other stakeholders to provide answers to questions about the housing projects that are built with government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or incentives, including the following: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is affordability period permanent and in perpetuity or will it end after a specified number of years? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires?
Today, Acting Secretary Todman announced that HUD is making available $10 million in Choice Neighborhood Planning Grants to support local planning efforts that will guide communities in the revitalization of HUD-assisted housing and the surrounding neighborhoods.

This graph illustrates a concerning trajectory for Downtown Dallas, which shows an upward trend in property crime, setting it apart from Fort Worth, Houston and Austin. While these figures are a snapshot, they are a clarion call to businesses, residents, and policymakers that there's considerable work to be done. The rise in property crime not only impacts the livability of our city but also poses challenges to economic growth and community wellbeing. #dallas #citydata #communitysafety

Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

A lack of #affordablehousing is impacting individuals and families across the country. The shortage is particularly difficult for #lowincome seniors, many of whom want to remain near friends, family and services they are familiar with rather than relocating to a new area. To help fill this void, Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group recently completed two affordable #assistedliving communities in Indiana: Green Oaks of Valparaiso and Green Oaks of Goshen. Residences at both communities are reserved for seniors aged 62 or older, with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income (AMI). We shared news of the recent opening of Green Oaks of Valparaiso with local and national media, resulting in coverage in Northwest Indiana Business Magazine, Connect CRE Chicago & Midwest, REBusinessOnline, REjournals, Seniors Housing Business (France Media Inc.) and Yield PRO, among other outlets.
