As we reach the halfway point of our series, we're continuing to build the foundation for entering the federal government market. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint, and our goal is to deliver excellence in products and services to support our government agencies. One crucial step in this phase is preparing your capability statement. This document serves as your business card to the federal government, introducing and promoting what your company sells and is capable of offering. Keep it clear, simple, and use government language, including the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. Remember, flashy graphic design is not as important as clear, concise information. Additionally, ensure you have completed your Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) profile. This profile, found at the end of your SAM registration, is crucial for the government to find small businesses with capabilities in your NAICS. Unlike searching on Google, the government relies on DSBS to discover businesses. Let me know if you're still committed to putting in the work! #FederalContracting #CapabilityStatement #DSBS #NAICS #BusinessDevelopment #GovernmentMarketing #SmallBusiness #SAMRegistration

The Navy’s system commands put on a clinic (quite a few of them) at last week’s #SeaAirSpace conference for suppliers and service providers looking to do business. Here’s a few key takeaways for getting in the door: • Be aware of resources for upcoming opportunities and small business guidance. NAVSUP’s Long Range Acquisition Forecast is current as of December 2023 (https://lnkd.in/eQqn2fjV), NECO provides daily procurement updates (https://www.neco.navy.mil/), and you can view DLA solicitations in DIBSS (https://lnkd.in/eKTNtUft). For small businesses, APEX Accelerators provide highly recommended consulting and training on getting into the defense supply chain. (https://lnkd.in/eHEQ9w2M) • Prospective Weapons System Support vendors need to build in time for requirements and pre-approval steps, like each procuring activity’s unique technical data transfer processes (e.g. NATEC for NAVAIR, FOIA for USMC) and site surveys for critical items. • For vendors challenged with navigating payment systems, consider registering with the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment, which hosts training and practical resources. (https://lnkd.in/eSJEC42m) • For major IDIQs like WEXMAC 2.0, NAVSUP recommends small businesses seek opportunities for subcontracting experience before trying to get on the schedule as a prime. In Ward & Berry’s own experience, contracting across the global FLC environment presents unique challenges to getting awarded and paid, where performance and documentation of performance may all occur within a several-day port visit. It’s important to have the right tools and advice to develop a solid relationship with the system command customer and local activity. Someone sent me this sam notification and asked me for my thoughts. (It's already been awarded) https://lnkd.in/eG5vAzSX First. It looks like a great opportunity. Cutting, trimming the grave markers for our nation's heroes. Seems like a great opportunity to employ folks who just came home from jail/prison. And opportunity to hire at risk teens/young adults. Definitely a great way to provide employment opportunities to certain communities. It was set aside for SDVOSB so apparently the KO felt this should have been set aside. The power of The Rule of Two. It's almost $5M for 5 years. Is that a good price? IDK. Is it too low a price? I have no idea. Because it's not my industry. If I was interested though and if it wasn't set aside for SDVOSB, I would have done a deep dive to see how much staff and equipment would have run me. But I would not be looking for subs. My default is not to subcontract. It is not to find subcontractors. However, I would find nonprofits who work with marginalized communities and do a MOU with them to find me staff. There were 5 responses. I didn't do a dive to see if this is a recompete. 5 submissions are not bad, definitely not as bad as janitorial with 30+ submissions. The winning company is NOT in Hawaii but Utah. Not my cup of tea but whatever. Great job James Watanabe and Watanabe Enterprises, LLC Congratulations on your award! Hopefully someone reaches out to you to interview you or ask you how you did it. Alexa Tsui Aubrey Gainfort Richard C. Howard, Lt Col (Ret) Eric Coffie Luke Nascimento Tan Wilson This is way more interesting to small business owners, than some company getting a piece of OASIS or SEWP when they probably paid a company to write their response. Note: There's a SDVOSB who has a podcast, but I can't remember his name. My apologies. Hopefully someone sees this and passing it on to you. (Not you Ricky) I looked them up (again, not a deep dive but enough of one). They have an impressive footprint in the federal space. Things started exploding in 2023. 2024, not so much but still they are growing in the federal space. Looks like a family-owned business with the 2nd generation (James) taking over. Which probably explains the growth. THIS is the type of people yall should be detailing. How did he learn? What did he learn? How is he maneuvering in this space? How was the transition from military to civilian? From civilian to business owner? What's the biggest difference? They've been in business for a while; how come they haven't gotten their 8a? Have they been pushed to get it? Why are you not following the sheep advice to get the 8a? Curious minds would like to know. This opportunity is/was a great one. It's not about the money, but the good it does. An SDVOSB is taking care of his comrades' graves, making sure it's kept up to standards. I think that's very admirable.

Is there someone here that works for Sam.gov? As non-us organizations, our grantees have faced several challenges getting their UEI/ registration. In some cases, renewing has been a pain too. Now, we have this case in which they lost their access to sam.gov due to the authentication methods and they need to renew ther registration. They have submitted several letters and the required documentation to request to change the authentication method so they can access their account. We have called and followed their instructions but nothing has been solved. We have done our best to help the organization but nothing has worked. Sam.gov requests things that doesnt apply to our country and despite we have explained, all the requests have been rejected. Since the UEI is linked to the NCAGE, creating a new registration is not an option. Any ideas or suggestions? Someone that has faced something similar?
