Celebrating International Human Rights Day Today we honour International Human Rights Day - a day to reflect on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, which champions the fundamental rights and freedoms that every person deserves - regardless of race, gender, nationality, or status. At Primark, respecting the rights of the people in our supply chain is a priority. It’s essential to us that everyone feels safe at work and has their human and legal rights respected. One example is our My Life programme in India. Launched in 2017 with international NGO Women Win and The Naz Foundation (India) Trust, the programme focuses on empowering vulnerable workers, particularly women, with skills in communication, labour rights, and workplace health. It’s about helping workers understand and assert their rights, helping to create safer, fairer workplaces. This is just one of many ways we’re working to support the people who make our clothes. Happy International Workers Day! Today we celebrate the progress made in improving the conditions of workers in our country through relevant legislation and activists demanding better conditions. However, we must acknowledge that there is still much work to be done, especially in the private sector where women, especially Black women, are more adversely affected. Workplaces need to transform and understand the needs of the employee as a person, recognizing that every aspect of their lives is interrelated. Equal protection for women in the workplace is essential, as their male counterparts are often treated much better. Psychological safety, a zero tolerance approach to sexism, patriarchal patronizing tendencies, and intimidation is necessary for a healthy and productive work environment. So workers of the world unite!! #InternationalWorkersDay

🌍 Tomorrow we celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and I embrace the idea of renewing my commitment to an inclusive and diversified work environment. In Italy, as elsewhere in the world, there are many talented individuals from diverse cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. It is our duty to create a workplace that values and respects this diversity, as it makes us stronger and more innovative. We can act on creativity and collaboration to strengthen our work, eliminate prejudices, and foster an atmosphere of mutual respect, equity, and inclusion. My toolbox includes: ▶implementing and promoting our company's anti-discrimination policies ▶offering training and fostering internal awareness ▶promoting based on merit and actively working on diversity in recruitment ▶fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued, and last but not least ▶having an anonymous and effective reporting system for cases of racial discrimination or inappropriate behavior I hope to further learn best practices from you to expand my toolkit 🤝 #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofRacialDiscrimination #Inclusion #Diversity #HRTools
