🚀 Task Completed: I'm excited to share that I've successfully wrapped up Task 2 of my internship at InternCareer, which entailed creating a detailed Global Terrorism Dashboard using Power BI. **Task Name:** Global Terrorism Dashboard **Problem Statement:** Develop a Power BI dashboard to provide an in-depth overview of global terrorism trends and patterns. 📊 **Development Process:** 1️⃣ **Data Preparation:** A crucial part of my project was ensuring the data was clean and well-organized for analysis using Power Query Editor. 2️⃣ **Data Sources:** To start, I imported data into Power BI by connecting to a text/csv file, setting the stage for analysis. 3️⃣ **Visualizations and Measures:** Utilizing DAX, I crafted measures to further analyze the data. I employed a variety of visualizations, including bar charts, line charts, KPIs, and column charts, to effectively represent the data visually. 4️⃣ **Dashboard:** Although drill-through functionality wasn't added, I included interactive features such as filtering and highlighting. These features allowed for dynamic data exploration and deeper insights. 5️⃣ **Insights:** By using Power BI's built-in analytics features, I was able to derive valuable insights from the data, providing actionable information that influenced decision-making processes. 💡 **Key Insights:** 1️⃣ The countries with the highest number of terrorist incidents among the 181.69k total events were: - Iraq: 24.64k incidents - Pakistan: 14.37k incidents - Afghanistan: 12.8k incidents - India: 11.96k incidents - Colombia: 8.3k incidents - Philippines: 6.9k incidents - El Salvador: 5.3k incidents - Both the UK and Peru: 5.3k incidents each - Somalia: 4.1k incidents 2️⃣ The most common type of attack was armed assault, occurring 160.60k times, followed closely by bombings/explosions, which happened 157.32k times. Other types of attacks occurred less frequently. 3️⃣ Explosives and firearms were responsible for the highest number of deaths, with 174.28k and 174.89k deaths respectively. 4️⃣ The regions of the Middle East and South Asia saw a significant rise in terrorist incidents from 2009 onwards, making them the most dangerous areas. 5️⃣ Terrorist incidents increased dramatically between 2010 and 2014. 6️⃣ The highest number of attacks were directed at private citizens and property. 7️⃣ The year 2014 saw the highest number of terrorist events with 16.90k recorded incidents, contributing to a total of 57,236 attacks. Over 408K killed and 521K wounded due to terrorist attacks to date. Reduction in the success rate of attacks over time. Iraq and Pakistan are the most attacked countries. Bombings/Explosions and Armed Assaults are the most common attack types. Explosives and firearms are the most used weapons. Taliban and ISIL are responsible for nearly 13% of attacks. Excited to share my recent project from the #GRIPJULY24 internship at TheSparksFoundation in Data Science and Business Analytics. I developed a Power BI dashboard to conduct exploratory analysis on the terrorism dataset to pinpoint the hot zones of terrorism. Problem Statement: Performing Exploratory Data Analysis to identify hot zones of terrorism and assess security concerns. Key Insights: ◾ Top countries frequently attacked: Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and the Philippines. ◾ Iraq leads in total attacks (23,000), successful attacks (20,000), and casualties (195,000). ◾ Explosives/bombings were the most common methods, with a success rate of 54.91%. ◾ The Taliban and ISIL are the deadliest groups, with ISIL targeting private citizens and the military in 2014, mainly in the Middle East and North Africa. Evolution of Terrorism: The analysis unveiled patterns in the frequency of terrorist attacks over the years, identifying periods of escalation and decline. 2. Country-specific Analysis: By examining terrorism trends at the country and regional levels, including prevalent attack methods and casualty counts, we gained valuable insights into each nation's unique challenges. 3. Human Impact: The analysis quantified the number of casualties in each country and region, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated global efforts to combat terrorism. 4. Weapon Dynamics: By categorizing and analyzing the types of weapons used in terrorist attacks, we gained insights into the most commonly employed weapons and their destructive capabilities, aiding in forecasting potential death tolls. 5.
