🌍 Navigating Challenges in Floating Wind Installation and Assembly 🏗 As the floating wind sector evolves, Shoreline Wind recognizes the substantial hurdles in scaling up this promising technology. Currently, with only 35 turbines installed globally, and the largest site at Hywind Tampen featuring just 11 turbines, the complexity of large-scale operations is clear. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 ▪️𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀: The floating wind industry is currently exploring over 125 different floating foundation designs, which presents a significant challenge for standardizing assembly processes. Each design varies in complexity depending on whether it's a semi-submersible, barge, or spar—and the materials used, such as steel or concrete. ▪️𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: Most ports face limitations in supporting the assembly of multiple floating foundations simultaneously, a key factor that restricts the speed and scale at which floating wind projects can be deployed. The sheer size and weight of the floating foundations demand extensive space and robust infrastructure, such as large quaysides and strong load-bearing capacities 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: ▪️𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀: Unlike traditional turbines, floating units require assembly directly on the floaters at port, which complicates logistics due to the movement and instability of these bases. ▪️𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀: The transportation and storage of massive turbine components and assembled floaters demand careful planning to avoid logistical bottlenecks, especially considering the limited number of floater-ready ports and suitable wet storage locations. Through the Shoreline Design software, we model all of these complexities in detail, aiding in the strategic planning and execution of floating wind projects to support in overcoming these challenges effectively. 🔗 Explore how we address these installation challenges at Shoreline Wind: https://hubs.ly/Q02tKDt50 #FloatingWind #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #ShorelineWind #Innovation #Sustainability

Blackfish Engineering Design Ltd Innovators Corner: MJR Power & Automation - Transforming Offshore Power and Charging Read The Full Article:- https://bit.ly/4bZrXQx Offshore wind farms require a fleet of vessels for various operations, traditionally powered by fossil fuels. By adopting electric and hybrid vessels, the industry can drastically reduce emissions and operational costs. Paul Cairns, Managing Director at MJR Power and Automation, emphasizes that replacing marine gas oil-fueled vessels with clean energy alternatives can save up to 2,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually per vessel. Kristof Verlinden, Head of O&M at Parkwind, praised the system for enabling maintenance vessels to access green energy directly from wind turbines without disrupting operations. EnerTribe is going back to our energy-based roots with the Bluepoint Wind project! This project will generate power by means of offshore wind capture with energy sent to potential sites in New York and New Jersey. With the involvement of ten indigenous communities, EnerTribe has been contracted to provide comprehensive training for the Bluepoint Wind team, as well as to provide outreach and engagement with the tribes in the New York Bight project area. We will be actively engaging with tribal leadership and supporting all tribal departments during this process. In addition, Bluepoint Wind is receiving training on indigenous communities and their government structures so they are aware how best to support and include them in project decisions during this exciting collaboration. EnerTribe President and CEO Forest James says, "as a company, we are infrastructure agnostic. It doesn't matter whether it's water, power, or Internet, it's imperative that companies in the clean energy, clean water, and telecommunication sectors understand best practices when working within indigenous governments. We are privileged to support the Bluepoint Wind team! More important, we are excited to engage with the 10 tribes to ensure their needs are being met." EnerTribe is an infrastructure consulting firm specializing in working with tribal government and tribal enterprise. We work for tribes, providers, and companies to identify funding, provide training and support, engineering, and project management. We are a solutions company looking for the best way to provide equitable resources to Indian Country. #enertribe #bluepointwind #cleanenergy #infrastructure #indiancountry

Luke Bridgman, MD at at the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm Project for Ørsted🌬️, talks to David Hill and Energy Focus about progress on site, as onshore works reach critical stages, and offshore works begin⚙️. Ørsted's Hornsea 3 will be the world's largest offshore wind farm when completed🥇, generating enough green energy for more than two million average UK homes😊. “We are going very well🚀. We started work on the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system in 2022 and we are a long way ahead⚡. Onshore is the main crux of work at the moment and our onshore converter station in Norwich is what we are busy with – erecting steelwork and foundations right now...🏗️ We are largely out of the ground with the foundations and building structures above ground, and that is a big step in the right direction⏫," he says.
