Today, we have the opportunity to reverse the stagnating productivity growth of the past few decades. We face a choice: we can either embrace greater technology adoption, leading to higher productivity, while taking on the challenge of upskilling our people and helping them transition to better, higher-paying jobs; or we can choose not to adopt technology at scale, leaving us stuck at stagnant historical rates. We all know the former is a much better proposition, but like any opportunity, it requires investments and commitment. In our new report, released at Vivatech Paris this week, we discuss these choices and explore how labor demand could change in the near future amid developments in Generative AI and other macro trends. I would love to engage with all of you, along with my co-authors, on how these changes are shaping the future of your work! Post 1/3 on my Future of Work Tech investment hypothesis: Embracing Tech Innovation to Tackle Ageing Populations and Talent Shortages As developed economies grapple with ageing populations, the workforce dynamics are shifting dramatically. The need for innovative solutions has never been greater. Here’s how technology and strategic approaches can bridge the gap: AI and Robotics: Automation and robotics are stepping in to fill labor shortages, particularly in sectors like manufacturing and healthcare. These technologies can handle repetitive tasks, allowing human workers to focus on more complex and strategic activities. Skilled Worker Migration and AI-Enabled Recruitment: Enabling the migration of skilled workers and young talent to aging developed economies is vital. AI-enabled platforms facilitate this by identifying and recruiting top talent globally, making the transition smoother through virtual onboarding programs, language and soft skills education, streamlining work permits and recognition of foreign degrees. AI can also greatly increase the quality and efficiency in active sourcing, outreach, matching and interviewing. Example investments include Wandel.com - Skilled Worker Platform, Crafthunt, Perlentaucher, HYRE Flexible Work Models: Digital platforms enable flexible work arrangements, attracting younger talent and retaining experienced workers who prefer part-time or remote work. By combining these strategies, businesses can navigate demographic shifts and ensure a balanced and productive workforce. Stay tuned for my next post... #FutureOfWork #TechInnovation #TalentManagement #AgeingPopulation #SkilledMigration

I've been passionate about the future of work, work tech and learning for over a decade, and it's fascinating to see how rapidly this space continues to evolve ➡️ AI and automation are reshaping how we think about roles and tasks inside our organisations. Clearly these shifts direct focus on reskilling people to succeed alongside new technology (😉 the key part of this is "alongside", not "replace"). ➡️ Learning and workplace tech is becoming more personalised, flexible and integrated. However, whilst we see more drive for personalised digital experiences (technology making this easier at scale..) the demand for in-person development continues as a way to foster connection and belonging. Remember, no one ever said they wanted to remove face-to-face - be intentional and purposeful in the mediums selected. Bridging the workplace and digital workspace is key. ➡️ Organisational agility is enabled through continuous learning, people-centric development and work technology that can flex inside change. It isn't slowing down anytime soon Across all this change, we must prioritise and nurture diversity and inclusion remembering the human beings at the heart of our organisations and customer base! The pace of change is vast, but core principles remain: empower your people with the skills and tools they need inside personalised employee experiences. #FutureOfWork #WorkTech #AI

The ‘Digital Drag’ between Gen AI promise and adoption in the workplace While Gen AI appears to hold great promise for boosting workplace productivity, its adoption could face significant challenges. This is due to the way that, despite the enthusiasm, most digital initiatives falter and even fail - Gen AI maybe no exception. What then explains this and what do we do about it? In this Frontline Be Sci post we take a look at so called "passive innovation resistance" in the workforce and consider the way in which the complexity of modern organisation requires a nuanced behavioural approach to tech adoption. We explore the way that Lead Users can be part of the solution but this can only work when the culture refects a diverse and nurturing 'growth' mindset rather than a 'genius' mindset'. But also that a 'Digital Drag' may well be no bad thing to ensure adoption is done well! https://lnkd.in/epQPR9QH

Great article on the state of AI adoption. #ai #technology #adoption
GenAI Momentum: Is it in decline? We're beginning to see the results of AI adoption (or lack thereof) and how it's being received by the workforce. Two key things stand out: 🔍 The AI Excitement Curve - Slack's recent survey (see below) reveals a cooling of initial AI enthusiasm - Excitement about AI task automation dropped 9 percentage points between March and August - Adoption growth is experiencing a natural slowdown 🚨 The Skills Gap Spotlight. A recent survey conducted by Randstad uncovered a stark digital divide (are we surprised?): - Only 1/3 of workers have been offered AI training - 71% of men report "AI skills" vs 29% of women report the same capabilities Both surveys highlight a Call-to-Action. Leaders, here's how to continue building momentum around the AI movement: - AI integration requires intentional, inclusive strategies - Training can't be optional - Bridging the skills gap is a strategic imperative (I can't stress this one enough) - Inclusive adoption of AI is both ethical and good business It's your move! What are you currently doing to bridge the skills gap and ensure excitement around AI adoption? #AIWorkforce #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfWork
