🏠 I'm finally home (India) after 18 months! 🌏✨ The last time I was here, I was pregnant, and now I'm returning with a lively toddler. The past 18 months have brought so much change in my life. While this trip is all about letting my little one bask in the warmth and love of family, I’m also excited to work on my personal growth and long-pending goals. Here are the top five things I’m eager to focus on during my time here: 🔹 Network: From screens to in-person connections, I’m looking forward to meeting some wonderful people who have been a part of my journey through social media platforms. Notes from 1.5 Months in India Day 1: Arriving in India, the land of vibrant colors and bustling streets. Excitement mixed with a tinge of nervousness as I embarked on this journey far from the familiar comforts of home. Week 1: Reconnecting with family and soaking in their warmth and love. Despite the cultural differences, their embrace felt like a familiar hug, grounding me in this new environment. Week 2: Immersed in the daily rhythm of life in India, I began to notice the contrasts between my Swedish upbringing and the societal norms here. Individualism versus collectivism became a recurring theme in my observations. Week 3: Surrounded by mentors who offered guidance and wisdom, I found moments of clarity amidst the chaos. Their insights into life's complexities challenged my perspectives and enriched my understanding of human connections. Week 4: As I navigated through the maze of routines and societal expectations, I couldn't shake off the feeling of superficiality in some interactions. The disparity between genuine connections and surface-level engagements became starkly evident. Week 5: Exploring the culinary delights of India, I encountered both exquisite flavors and disappointing experiences. The lack of care and authenticity in some food establishments mirrored broader issues of quality and integrity in daily life. Week 6: Reflecting on my journey, I realized the importance of authenticity and mindfulness in navigating life's complexities. Despite the challenges and cultural differences, my journey in India has been a lesson in embracing the beauty of genuine connections and seeking fulfillment beyond superficial norms. Closing Thoughts: As I prepare to bid farewell to India, I carry with me a deeper appreciation for the richness of human experiences and the universal longing for authenticity and meaning in life. Sometimes when I’m in India I get asked a common question of visitors - is it your first time in India? I usually reply no, I’ve been a few times. I’ve actually been somewhere between 80 and 100 times - I’m not sure of the exact number because it’s coming up to 30 years since I first visited and who keeps track of such things? I’m reluctant to tell people in India this because I find it can create unrealistic expectations about things like a) how many Indian languages I speak (it’s complicated) b) whether I have visited every state (I have not) c) how old that must make me (TBC) and d) how wealthy I must be to have spent that much money on airfares (it’s all relative). When I do occasionally tell people the (approximate) number, it’s interesting to see them rapidly trying to calculate what next they should say. I enjoy being asked and asking questions, so if the interlocutor is a curious minded-person often an interesting conversation ensues. As an outsider there is a certain licence to probe (and be probed), and I try to be equally or more forthcoming in offering my views, which always makes for forthright and enlightening discussions. Many of my friends and people I have met in India over the years have not been afraid to have frank exchanges with me, which I find to be a relief after growing up in the west where we tend to be more circumspect with people. The near endless range of views, backgrounds and beliefs one encounters in India is a source of real fascination for me and one of the many joys of India. Coming back to the fact that it’s nearly 30 years since my first visit - I’m so glad I got to visit India before the age of the internet and mobile phones. When calls home were from one of the ubiquitous yellow IST/STD/Local phone booth/shops; one had to hand-write letters and post-cards (not all of which reached home - no offence to India and Australia Post); planning travel and getting around was so manual; and accommodation was basically pot-luck. Much has improved, become easier, but also less surprising, challenging and adventurous. It seems mobile phones have and are enabling huge developmental gains, for which we should be thankful, whatever your views about social media. Anyway as I approach the 30 year mark, I’ve been thinking about what I’ve learned about India. Many people have observed that understanding or speaking about India is a contradiction in terms - in the sense that the opposite of whatever generalisation we make is also true - which I agree with. I think the best I can offer, and something we return to time and again when writing about India as a travel company, is that it’s beautiful and complex (though to be sure it has ugly bits and is occasionally oh so simple!) and only by going there and seeing it for yourself can you come to know this. And yet of course you may visit and say it’s none of those things - and that’s exactly what makes it India! #IndiaUnbound

⏳A Journey from Bangalore to Kerala: Rediscovering Humanity⏳ On my recent journey from Bangalore to Kerala, I was reminded of the power of small acts of kindness.🤝 As I stood at the crowded bus station, I noticed a young man struggling to communicate with the driver due to a language barrier. He was visibly frustrated and worried about missing his ride. 🙂Before I could step in, a woman nearby, who spoke both languages, gently intervened. She didn’t just translate the conversation but also ensured he had all the information he needed to reach his destination. This simple act, one that cost her nothing but a few moments of her time, left a profound impact on me. It reminded me that humanity is not always about grand gestures; sometimes, it’s about noticing the small struggles and stepping up to help. In a world that often feels fast-paced and disconnected, these moments of compassion and understanding are what bring us together. Whether it’s in the workplace or in everyday life, the smallest actions can leave the deepest impressions. It made me reflect on how we can carry this humanity into our professional lives—by being there for our colleagues, offering support when it’s needed most, and creating environments where everyone feels seen and valued. As I settle back into my routine, I carry this experience with me, a reminder that no matter how busy we get, taking the time to show kindness and understanding makes all the difference.🤍 #journey #personality #humanity #vibe

The HIGH PROFILE event that changed my perspective. A few years back, we landed an opportunity to work  with a family that happens to be one of India's most valuable assets. When the POC reached out to us, we were in a bit of a  shock. That seemed unreal and we couldn't be happier. There's something about the BIG events that make you question. Nervousness creeps in and you start  doubting everything. You start to think “What more” can be done? I believe it is always great to deliver what you do generally. Don’t overdo, don’t under-deliver but just give it  your best. Like you do it for all your clients. As soon as we reached the venue, we could feel a sense of relief. The family was respectful, humble, and most importantly appreciative of what we do. We didn’t have to fake anything and I guess that’s why they liked us. They went on to book us for multiple events thereafter. What I took back from this event was to always: - hold your ground - stay rooted - build around a purpose  - seek feedback not approvals. People respect you for what you bring to the table. Eid Mubarak to all celebrating!✨ On this auspicious day, I am reminded of the two words/concepts I love the most because they are so powerful: Sabr (patience) and Shukr (gratitude) Amidst all the chaos, I'm slowly learning to find my balance, trying to integrate them into my life in a way that feels authentic. When things get rough, I remind myself to hang in there. And trust me, there are days when I feel like I'm barely holding it together, let alone being patient. But I am slowly learning that it's about taking one step at a time, even if those steps are wobbly and uncertain. Taking things slow without stressing too much and believing that things will work out even if it takes time. On the good days, when everything seems to be falling into place, I try to remember to be thankful, count my blessings, and appreciate the little victories. A life-changing event, a story of perseverance and courage. Let's rewind to October 2023. While casually browsing Facebook, I stumbled upon a post about Mrs. India. Initially, I brushed it off, thinking it wasn't meant for me. Yet, something compelled me to click and fill out the form, though I doubted I'd receive a call. To my surprise, the call came, and I found myself at the auditions with no expectations. Despite my uncertainties, I managed to clear the auditions. Months passed, and after rigorous training, the selection rounds arrived., I poured all my efforts into showcasing my best, leaving the outcome to fate. Miraculously, I emerged as the winner for my city, earning the chance to compete in the grand finale—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, personal commitments intervened, preventing me from participating in the finale. Despite this setback, receiving a certificate and recognition from the pageant team brightened my day. As a typically reserved and introverted individual, I never imagined myself achieving such heights. Yet, through this journey, I surprised myself, evolving into a more confident and content person. And so, as fate would have it, my journey to Mrs. India ended not with a crown atop my head, but with a certificate in my hand and a heart full of gratitude. Who knew that a simple click on a Facebook post could lead to such unexpected adventures? While I may not have graced the grand stage of the finale, I've certainly gained a newfound confidence and a fabulous certificate to frame. As they say, it's not always about winning the crown, but about the journey and the friends you make along the way. So here's to unexpected clicks, personal growth, and the delightful twists life throws our way. Who knows what other surprises await just around the corner? As for me, I'm ready to click my way into whatever comes next with a smile on my face and confidence in my stride.

As a humble street chaiwallah, I am sure Dolly never would’ve ever have imagined he'd have the chance to meet someone like #BillGates.
