As the season for many is coming to a close, I've been chatting with Sport Psychologist Christopher Silver of Performance Potential about the post race blues, he had some wise words: "Post race blues is a feeling of sadness that can set in after a race has been completed. Firstly, it's important to note that it's a completely normal feeling! Once the race is over you may be left thinking, 'what's next?'. This is very common! Post race blues can be a difficult feeling to work through but it is also a feeling that can be managed. What can help? One of the most important things is to have a post-race plan ahead of time. Ater months of training and preparation it is important to give your body and mind a break. For some this may be a few weeks of going 'cold turkey' with zero training, whereas others may prefer to just tick along with a few weeks of unstructured training. Turning your attention to a non-triathlon related activity or goal can also be helpful when dealing with post-race blues. Working through post race emotions, debriefing and analysing your performance can also help to process what has happened, so you're not left with a feeling of 'what if?' Lastly, give it time and be kind to yourself along the way!"  I have since been on this life-long mission of mental and physical health. Let's say I had an exercise towel out at four years old for Mousercise, Suzanne Summers, and all the others! I have trained and studied many sports and styles of dance, weight trained enough to compete, coached gymnastics for over ten years, and practiced martial arts. As I trained in Chinese Medicine, I learned other valuable techniques for building the soul, as well as the mind and body. I start this with what I love and my passion because that is what clients were doing and want to return to doing before they were injured. How’s your head? What about your heart? How’s your body doing? We all bring our whole selves to work each day and all those three things affect the type of employees, colleagues, and consultants we are for the people we interact with at Tree Mann Solutions and for anyone out there. We had a great quarterly Friday training session where I challenged my management team to all come up with topics that were important to them that they felt they did well personally and professionally - skills that could be a benefit for our whole team to learn more about. Our Central TX Market Manager, Joe Zaniewski, focused on healthy habits. “Tree Jitsu” gets in martial arts 5+ evenings a week and is not a person I’d want to mess with! But don’t worry, he is a lot less irritable after he gets in his exercise size – like we all are! I’m sure thankful for a team that likes to have fun, take care of themselves and others, and work to help make our organization better all the time. And if you care to talk to him about jiu-jitsu, you are in for a conversation! Are you focusing on your team? Do you care about them outside of work? Do you want them to be better for themselves and not just your KPIs or company success? While we don’t do it perfectly, we sure try to ask ourselves those questions regularly and engage with our team to make sure they get the care and support they need to keep excelling professionally and personally. If we don’t do that, then what the heck are we here for?

Just crushed this run!🏃🏾♂️ Every step is a victorious one, every drop of sweat is a sign of progress. Push past your limits and watch yourself grow stronger each day. For so many years, I have been deathly afraid of running for distance. I love to do HIIT style running (basketball, fan bike, boxing, sprints), but running for distance is something I never thought I would do again, in my life! About 4 months ago, I decided to step out of my comfort zone, and overcome my fear and start running for distance again! The first week, was absolute he** on earth. My back locked up after the first day when I decided to run a mile, and it was hard to move for days after that! My whole body was stiff, sore and in intense pain, that entire first week (running 2 days on, 1 day off). Even though my body was trying to get me to quit running, my mind wouldn’t let me quit on myself! So I continued to push through the pain and adversity, and now my body no longer hurts running anymore, I can run about 5 miles (and climbing) without being tired, and I have lost about 25 lbs. in the last 4 months, since I started this journey to push pass my fear, step outta my comfort zone, and do something I never thought possible I could do!
