This is a significant investment as we start the implementation phase of the waste transformation programme. The new fleet will assist in the move from weekly to fortnightly residual waste collections, allows us to introduce a weekly food waste service and enhance the dry mixed recycling scheme. The first phase will see these changes being introduced to the 340,000 kerbside properties across the city, before we move into the modernisation programme for the 130,000 multiple occupancy properties. #birminghamcitycouncil

We are in Salt Lake County today to celebrate the Federal Transit Administration's award of $62.8 million for Utah Transit Authority's Midvalley Express BRT project! With this grant, UTA will construct a 7-mile Bus Rapid Transit route built by US-workers with US-materials and operate the service with buses made-in-the-USA. The crosstown route features 15-minute service with connections to Salt Lake Community College and the fast-growing regions of West Valley City and Taylorsville. The project's connectivity is highlighted by intermodal transfers to commuter rail and two light rail lines. The BRT line will prepare the Salt Lake City region for the 2034 Winter Olympics by providing a connection to the Maverik Center, a planned venue for the games. Congratulations to UTA and their partner cities for unlocking a new era of transportation in the community. #UtahTransit #WinterOlympics #BRT

Agents this past week began riding the METRO C Line and METRO D Line between downtown Minneapolis and the Brooklyn Center Transit Center, a first step toward expanding their onboard presence to bus rapid transit lines. Close to 60 TRIP Agents are now working on transit; as the program grows, they will spend more time on BRT lines. Learn more about our public safety initiatives here https://lnkd.in/gNRpAKi6

Whilst we didn’t win, I’m proud to be part of an organisation that backs this kind of initiative. We all know LANTRA training only gives operatives the bare bones of knowledge and doesn’t guarantee they have any real practical experience. Over the last two years at Highway Traffic Management Ltd we’ve developed a comprehensive competancy assessment programme which all trainees go through covering over 180 criteria, including skills, knowledge and behaviours, stuff we expect everyone to magically know, but rarely teach, including how to load a van correctly, how to complete paperwork, what to do if there’s an incident and how to give or receive a briefing. Why have we done this? We want to have high quality competent and reliable operatives who have good knowledge and therefore the confidence to run sites whilst managing and supporting other staff. We have some great examples of this working with operatives who joined with no experience now teaching others. This is what quality and a conscientious TM company looks like. #htmltd #quality #trafficmanagement
We were back in London this week for the Highways Awards, having been shortlisted for the Worker and On Site Safety Initiative. 🙌 Sadly we didn't win, but it was still a fantastic evening celebrating the achievements from across the industry. Congratulations to all of the winners! ✨ Here's some snaps of our time spent with our friends from Consilium Technical Services, Up To Speed Training and HighwaysIndustry.Com (Official) throughout the day exploring London's BrewDog bar, having a go at bowling (where Ross Simpson was crowned 'King Pin') and finishing with karaoke post-awards show. 🎳 👑 🎤 A thoroughly enjoyable evening and a great event organised by Highways Magazine. Thanks for having us. 👏 #highwaysawards #highways #trafficmanagement #roadsafety #awards Greg Baldwin Marcus Casey Danny Thorn Andrew Booth Adam Hurl Michael Booth Matthew Higgs Lucinda Sturman Robson Weaver Flora Donnelly Denis Padmore Daryl Gordon, FIHE RegTTME (IHE) Michael Lysaght Andrew Gardner FIHE RegTTME(IHE) Ed Arnold Adam Mills FIHE Simon Booth Marc Hobbins

How exactly is MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) going to build all these new stations when they have already had to cannibalize the budgets of other #transit projects, like the Campbellton Road and Clifton Corridor light rail proposals, to pay for the Eastside Atlanta BeltLine streetcar scheme? If the Beltline streetcar moves forward, there is no way that these infill stations are built in the City of Atlanta in our lifetimes. Just to be clear, the infill stations make sense to me. The $100-million-plus-per-mile streetcar no longer does, given the Beltline’s importance as a corridor for those who are #walking or riding #bikes and other #micromobility. https://lnkd.in/e5JTDDGS

The clocks going back mean darker evenings, but one positive of this is that I get even more chances to marvel at the illuminated road studs that coordinate with the traffic signals to provide lane guidance at two trunk road junctions to the south of Edinburgh.
