🔬 Seeking New Horizons: My Journey from Clinical Medicine to Lab Research As a seasoned medical doctor transitioning from patient care to the investigative realm of laboratory research, I am encountering the intriguing challenge of being seen as "overqualified." Despite my extensive experience in medicine, my aspiration to contribute to groundbreaking research in the lab is met with hesitation, underscoring a common dilemma many face in their careers. My journey is not just about changing jobs; it's about expanding my horizons and applying my clinical insights to solve complex research problems. I am actively seeking Research Assistant roles, not just to learn new techniques, but to integrate my clinical expertise with experimental innovations. This is a deliberate step to bridge two worlds – the clinical and the scientific. However, this transition raises several questions: -How can seasoned professionals reshape their careers without being restricted by their previous experience? -What strategies can be employed to leverage extensive backgrounds as assets in new fields? -How do we challenge the notion of being "overqualified" and instead, be seen as uniquely prepared? I would love to hear from others who have navigated similar paths or from hiring managers on how they perceive career transitions. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! #CareerTransition #Overqualification #ResearchCareers #MedicalResearch #ProfessionalDevelopment
