It's Thanksgiving week and we're sure many of you are planning on having wonderful gatherings. 🦃✨ As we head into the holidays, we want to remind our tenants of the following: No candles allowed: For everyone's safety, open flames like candles are not permitted at our properties. Cooking safety: Never leave the stove unattended, and keep cooking areas clean to avoid fire hazards. Be mindful of noise: As you celebrate, remember to be respectful of your neighbors. Keep the volume down, especially late at night, to ensure everyone can enjoy a peaceful holiday. Thanksgiving abroad can feel awkward... Many of us are used to celebrating with family and friends or at least having a significant amount of time off. But when you live abroad, you often don't have any time off work, the kids are still in school, and it feels less and less like a holiday. As someone who has celebrated Thanksgiving for the last 15 years overseas, here's some friendly advice on how to make it feel more like a holiday: 👉 Don't hesitate to celebrate on the Saturday. If the point is being around family and friends, why does it matter if you eat turkey on a certain day of the week? 👉 Take some time to find your favorite holiday foods. It's possible! Don't give up just because you are in a foreign country and assume you can't find them. 👉 Don't be afraid to make new traditions that fit your new schedule. If you can't watch the Lions play on Thursday, start a new tradition that accommodates a Thanksgiving schedule abroad!
