Tidbit for your Day | Happy Friday! As we head into the weekend, our team wanted to share a practical exercise from the brilliant Laurie Santos. Laurie created the course, "Psychology and the Good Life", which holds the record for being the most popular course in Yale University’s history. Laurie has also created the podcast, "Happiness Lab", and offers a free course, "The Science of Well Being" on Coursera - there is clearly a reason she is dubbed the "Happiness Expert". The Exercise: Before making a decision, imagine looking back on it from the perspective of your future self. How will you feel about your choice in a week, a month, or even a year? This shift in mindset helps align your actions with your long-term values and happiness, rather than short-term impulses. Why It Matters: We’re constantly balancing the urgent with the important. This simple tactic is a powerful way to prioritize decisions that will bring enduring fulfillment—whether they’re about work, relationships, or personal growth. How are you making space for decisions that align with your future self?

⌛ Do you feel like you never have enough time? ⌛ 👂 Listen to this recent Hidden Brain podcast episode for several insights from Cassie Mogilner Holmes' #research on #time to maximize #happiness, #awe, #joy, and #relationships. 👉 Being too busy or having too much free time leads to dissatisfaction. Find the balance in-between. 👉 Track your time. The more #mindful you are about how you deploy your time, the less stressed out and overwhelmed you'll feel. 👉 Time scarcity is a trap. When you feel like you don't have enough time, you are stuck in the lack of belief you can be productive and happy. You may have more time than you think. 👉 Avoid the "Yes-Damn Effect." This is based on your false assumption that you'll have more time in the future. You are not likely to be less busy in the future, so choose future tasks based on their importance and meaning. 👉 Your #mindset matters. If you look at your weekend as a vacation, you are more likely to enjoy it! 👉 We are all susceptible to hedonic adaptation (when we stop noticing the things we enjoy after repeated exposure). Focus on the preciousness of moments, people, and things to experience #awe. 👉 Write your own #eulogy. It helps you to remember what's most important now and in the future. 👉 Count how many more times you have to do a specific activity in the remaining moments of your life. 👉 Seek out moments of transcendence. This expands your perspective and your sense of how much time that you have. 👉 Exercise. It makes you feel like you can accomplish your goals, while boosting your mood and happiness about future activities. https://lnkd.in/e6z7PAC2

🥁 Earlier today I read a fascinating study (link in comments) that found that just one conversation with a friend a day can lower stress levels and increase happiness. Of course, we know that talking to friends makes us happier, but we might underestimate just how much a quick chat can improve our well-being. Researchers studied the conversations of 900 study participants, measuring seven types of communication behaviors: meaningful talk, listening, offering compliments, catching up, showing care, valuing opinions and joking around. That night, subjects reported back about their feelings of stress, well-being, connection and loneliness. The more quality conversations people had, the better they felt. And it was less about the communication behaviors (meaningful conversations versus joke-y ones, for instance) and more about the act of reaching out to someone that made the difference. Eventually, talking to a friend can make your day. 😃 Source: Hidden Brain podcast #wellbeing #love #friendship #mentalhealth #routines #health #compasion #science

As we navigate through the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget about the precious commodity that is TIME. Time is the one thing we can never get back, and yet, it's often the thing we take for granted the most. Mel Robbins talks about a 10-year study called the American Time Study in an episode of her podcast (“This One Study Will Change How You Think About Your Entire Life”) and I cannot stop thinking about it. A few takeaways below that I knew but because of the study and podcast episode, I’m determined to NOT be a statistic: -By the age of 18, time spent with parents and siblings has peaked. -At the age of 26, the time spent with family stays at a constant low for the rest of our lives. -Between the ages of 20 and 60, we’re spending most of our time with our coworkers. -After the age of 29, the time we spend with friends declines. A sobering reminder of the importance of WHO we spend our time with and HOW we choose to spend it. So how can we make the most of our time and live our lives to the fullest? Here are a few tips: -Prioritize what matters: Take a moment to reflect on what's truly important to you. Is it spending time with loved ones? Pursuing your passions? -Be present: It's easy to get caught up in the past or worry about the future, but the only moment we truly have is the present. Practice mindfulness and be fully present in each moment. -Set boundaries: Learn to say no to things that don't align with your priorities which will free up more time for the things that truly matter. -Make time for self-care: Taking care of yourself is crucial for your overall well-being. Make sure to carve out time for activities that recharge you, whether it's exercise, reading, or spending time in nature. -Connect with others: Surround yourself with people who lift you up and support you. Cultivate meaningful relationships and make time for regular social interactions. Are you spending your time the way YOU want to? Or are you spending your time the way you think OTHERS want you to? Life is short and time is fleeting. Let's make every moment count. Reach out for a complimentary session and let’s work together to map out your goals and how to achieve them. #LifeCoach #MakeEveryMomentCount #SeizeTheDay

Lets talk about authenticity... Every morning during my cardio I listen to an audio book or a podcast of somene or something inspirng to get my day started on the right foot. This week I listened to a podcast with Mr. Olympia Chris Bumstead on it. Chris and the host were talking about how to stay sane when you are in the spotlight or have your life available for others to comment on on social media. Chris said that in order to protect himself from the haters and to be his best self he doesn't try to be like everyone else and fit into the crowd. He embodies himself and leads with authenticity which puts him in a position where he can not be judged for anything because he is simply just being himself. I thought about his conversation and how it can relate to myself and how I run Glow Body. I promised myself when I started this business that I would never promote, market or do anything that did not feel authentic to my self and my brand. I feel like this mindset has helped so much in my brands notoriety but has also helped to protect my mental wellness when someone doesn't want to list my products or when a customer has a complaint. Of course it still affects me as I am human. But, by reminding myself that no matter what anyone says about my business or to me about my business I know that I am leading every decision and idea with what aligns with my values. And if someone doesn't like that, then instead of pouring judgment onto myself I simply just say "Its just not for them and that's okay". And carry on. So if you ever feel like you are judging yourself based off what someone else said to you either business realted or personal. Just remind yourself to stay true to you, be authentic and you will attract the right people. ✨

What is your ONE main factor for happiness 😁? Well, ... each and everyone may have got theirs, so be it. And then there is one or the other study. One, still running today, started back in 1938 (Harvard Study of Adult Development) and its answer to the initial question is: 'quality relationships'. Interested in learning more about it? CNN published an excellent article earlier today: https://lnkd.in/eDhSRCq9 It also included a link to the podcast 'Living Your Happiest Life'. #happiness #podcast #relationship #life
