We are honored to have received the Director of the Year Award for the sixth time and the inaugural Climate Governance Award from the The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD). Ping An has long pursued a balanced and professional board structure. As a source of strategic leadership, our #Board has 15 directors with expertise in insurance, banking, investment, accounting, law, management, and technology. Among them six are independent non-executive directors, making up 40% of the Board, a percentage above the industry average. Staying close to the business is crucial and since our listing the Board has been conducting on-site inspections and reviews at the grassroot level to gather feedback from frontline employees and promote continuous operational improvement. To optimise board performance, there were 26 training sessions organised in 2023 covering #corporategovernance, environmental and climate impact, and sustainable development. Ping An's Board of Directors oversees environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) matters of the Group. An efficient and collaborative long-term ESG governance mechanism is in place to address the risks and opportunities of #climatechange. The HKIoD is Hong Kong’s leading industry organization representing professional directors. The HKIoD awards were co-organized by The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, the Securities and Futures Commission, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX). 🔗Read the press release: https://bit.ly/3OUzuqN 🔗Learn more about our corporate governance: https://bit.ly/3Bfgu37

Corporations and Governance. What’s the connection? Had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with many financial delegates, fund managers and analysts at the CITIC CLSA Forums this week. All investors want to get a better understanding of the financial performance of a company - to decide whether to invest more or possibly to liquidate and reinvest in businesses with better returns. Found the comments of one particular fund manager I met , who has an enviable return of 7-11% for his clients, very insightful. He shared that financial returns are important but the most important factor he looks at is the Governance of a company. To him, this element of Governance is the Most important element of the E, S & G of a company. Without Governance, the other 2 elements cannot be achieved and the financial performance cannot be Sustained. Insightful Remarks & Observations. Delighted that he thought our company and group was well governed. Have a Fantastic Friday. PS - will share more good news on Governance next week, when it becomes public. This is from Temasek's 2023 annual report. Temasek, headquartered in Singapore and owned by the Singapore government, is one of the world's smartest diversified institutional investors. It has served as a template for establishing many other Government-owned investment funds and holdings like the UAE's Mubadala and more recently, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) As you can see "Macro AND Geopolitical Risk" is the foundation over which all Temasek's risk management framework has been built. Many institutional investors across the world, be they privately owned or government-owned, have not come yet to this level of maturity, especially regarding Geopolitical Risk, its assessment, measurement, co-movement with the Macro and Environmental Risks, and most appropriate mitigation strategies. Our core mission and ambition at The Multipolarity Report is to develop such a framework. Stay tuned. #investment #geopoliticalrisk

COP29 and 3rd anniversary of MPFA ESG integration initiative coincide to put spotlight on the system (Hong Kong 18Nov24) . "3 year anniversary of the MPFA’s “Principles for Adopting Sustainable Investing in the Investment and Risk Management Processes of Mandatory Provident Funds” . This year marks the three-year anniversary of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority’s (MPFA) launch of the “Principles for Adopting Sustainable Investing in the Investment and Risk Management Processes of MPF Funds”. These Principles were introduced to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into the investment and risk management processes of MPF funds, fostering greater alignment with global sustainability goals. . Over the past three years, the Principles have served as a cornerstone for promoting sustainable investment practices among MPF trustees and fund managers. . Key achievements include: . 1. Increased ESG Integration: A growing number of MPF trustees have embedded ESG factors into their decision-making frameworks, ensuring that investments consider long-term risks and opportunities arising from climate change, social responsibility, and governance issues. . 2. Enhanced Transparency: Trustees have made significant strides in disclosing how ESG factors are incorporated into their investment and risk management practices, helping scheme members make more informed decisions. . 3. Capacity Building: The MPFA has actively supported trustees and investment professionals through training programs, workshops, and resources to deepen their understanding of sustainable investing. . 4. Positive Impact on Markets: The Principles have encouraged broader adoption of ESG strategies in the Hong Kong market, aligning the MPF system with international trends and demonstrating leadership in sustainable investing in Asia. . Looking ahead, the MPFA remains committed to advancing sustainable investing by fostering collaboration with industry stakeholders, promoting innovation in ESG integration, and strengthening reporting and accountability standards. This milestone underscores the MPFA’s dedication to ensuring a more resilient and responsible retirement savings system for Hong Kong’s workforce. . . #MPF #MPFratings #esg #francischung #mpfratings #MPFScorecard #MPFHealthCheck #MPFFastMover #MPFRConsistentPerformers #MarketInsights #MPFMarketShare #MPFFundFlows #MPFNetReturns #MPFIndustry #pensionschemes #assetmanagement #investmentmanagement #investment #empf https://lnkd.in/gGNkAJYC
