The Michelin Capital Markets Day 2024 has come to a close, giving us another opportunity to share the progress of the past year with our shareholders. We were glad to present the following: 📈 We met our 2023 targets, with €28.3bn in sales (better than our original target) and a ROCE of 11.4% (versus a target of at least 10.5%). 💰 In 2026, we aim for higher profitability and even stronger cash generation. We note similar progress on our People & Planet commitments: 🦺 In 2030, we aim to be world-class in employee safety with a Total Case Incident Rate of less than 0.5 (down from 1.01 in 2023), as well as being best in class in value created for customers. 🌍 We are on track to reach net zero emission by 2050 (scope 1 & 2) with a milestone of a 50% reduction compared to 2010 by 2030. ♻️ We aim to reach full circularity of our products by 2050. For me, the key takeaway of the past few years is that our expertise in the science of composite, of which tires are the most iconic example, has allowed us to expand into new value-creating, growth-generating markets. This has two benefits: for one, we will be less dependent on cyclical fluctuations, but beyond that we are repositioning ourselves as a manufacturer of game-changing composites and experiences that have a real impact on our customers’ day-to-day lives. More than ever, the composite part of our activity, as well as new experiences and services will be the main drivers for growth and innovation in Michelin’s future. Not only as a manufacturer, but as a #tech company as well.

Another eventful year is coming to an end. I would like to thank all contributors for their commitment. Also for the innovative strength that defines us at ALPLA Group. This is something we can be proud of, and our results speak for themselves: whether it’s new products like the PET wine bottle and the paper bottle, or enhancing our performance portfolio in terms of quality, energy efficiency, and material reduction. Sustainability is also a key focus for us, which is why we continuously work on resource optimization and fully recyclable packaging, true to our motto: Family of Pioneers.
