Last week, the Phase Two Design team had an incredible day immersing ourselves in the future of automotive innovation at the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show! It was the shows first year back in Geneva since the COVID pandemic. Noticeably many of the leading European car brands were absent, but it was well attended and will hopefully regain its former appeal. We've captured the highlights of our day in a vlog to give you a taste of the experience. From cutting-edge technology to timeless classics, the show offered a dynamic blend of automotive wonders. Renault had a strong showing of creativity and unique French flair as it relaunched the classic Renault 5 in EV form and it did not disappoint! Particularly captivating was the impressive presence of BYD and other progressive electric car manufacturers. Their fleet of cars, array of technology models, and interactive displays showcased a glimpse into the future of mobility. It was fascinating to see their impressive growth on display, especially since BYD has overtaken Tesla as the top-selling electric car seller. With the presence of emerging players like BYD, it will be interesting to watch how the electric car market evolves and who will become the key players. Do you think electric cars are the future? ⚡ #genevamotorshow #electriccars #innovation #automotivedesign #industrialdesign #ev #futuremobility

The All-New Renault 5 E-Tech Electric In a thrilling unveiling at this year's Geneva Motor Show, the automotive world witnessed the revival of a legend—the Renault 5. Known affectionately as "Le Car" in the United States, the Renault 5 has been reborn for the modern era, now fully electric and ready to navigate the complexities of urban environments with ease. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric marks a significant milestone in the brand's history, rejuvenating the iconic model that was last seen in 1996. This iteration stays true to its heritage with a design that delicately balances retro charm and futuristic sensibilities. The vehicle's exterior is a homage to its predecessors, featuring the distinctive cute headlights, vertical taillights, and pronounced wheel arches that made the original a standout. In a nod to the past, the rear door handles are cleverly integrated at the base of the C-pillars, simulating the three-door look that was synonymous with the original versions. Inside, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric continues to pay tribute to its roots with vertical stitching on the dashboard and rectangular air vents reminiscent of the original. A modern twist is evident in the large digital display that houses both the driver's instruments and the infotainment system, blending nostalgia with contemporary technology seamlessly. Dimensions reveal the car's compact yet spacious nature, fitting perfectly into the supermini category but with ample room for day-to-day utility. Riding on the new AmpR Small platform, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric offers a choice between two battery sizes, with the larger 52.0-kWh pack promising up to 249 miles (400 kilometers) of range on a single charge. Performance is brisk, with the top-spec model capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in less than eight seconds. The car's introduction is not just about bringing back a beloved nameplate; it's about pushing forward into a new era of mobility. Features like bidirectional charging and a multi-link rear independent suspension highlight Renault's commitment to innovation and sustainability. Furthermore, the oversized 5 logo that serves as a battery charge indicator on the hood is a clever blend of form and function, showcasing the thoughtfulness embedded in the vehicle's design. #renault #electriccar #ev #electricvehicles
