Supporting lifesaving care in #Newport 💙 Persimmon East Wales has donated £1,000 to St David's Hospice Care, helping fund a new vein scanner for their in-patient unit. This donation, made through our Community Champions initiative, will support the hospice's incredible work providing palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Their dedicated team delivers expert pain management and compassionate support, both at home and in their purpose-built hospice, free of charge. We presented the cheque alongside Newport City Councillor Jane Mudd FCIH, who represents the #Malpas ward where the hospice is based. From its humble beginnings caring for six patients in its first year, St David’s Hospice Care now supports over 3,400 people annually across South East Wales, making a profound difference in local communities. #PersimmonHomes

It's been almost a year since I joined the Kay Blair Hospice fundraising committee, and in trying to raise money for the construction of this hospice, I've repeatedly encountered the same question: What is a hospice? I think the general lack of awareness of what a hospice is due to how difficult it is to talk about end of life care. And yet, hospices will help individuals and families who are impacted by advanced cancer, dementia, lung disease, heart disease, motor-neuron disease, and more. That's a large portion of the population who will need hospice care to not only manage the symptoms and pain of these diseases, they help individuals cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. In other words, if I were to explain the difference between a hospice and a hospital, it would be that a hospice provides palliative care like a hospital but also focuses on compassion, dignity and support for everyone involved including the family members. Treatment is administered in a home-like setting and additional services are offered to make sure your loved one experiences a peaceful transition. Kuljit Singh, AMP, the board of dedicated volunteers, and I have a goal of raising $3 million to get Brampton's first hospice built, and we need your help. You can help by: 1. Buying tickets to our High Tea and Silent Auction on April 14th (https://lnkd.in/gtTphZPn) 2. Donating an item or service to our Silent Auction 3. Joining our Founders Campaign where you can decide how much and how often you want to donate over time (kayblairhospice.ca) #hospicecare #hospicesupport #hospice #healthcareinnovation #healthservices #healthaccess #healthandwellbeing #endoflifecare #endoflifeplanning

Your donations directly support our hospitals in Basildon, Broomfield and Southend. With an NHS that stretches so far, it’s your donations that mean we can go that extra mile for our patients and staff. Here’s some of those that your donations make the biggest impact on: 🧸 Children and babies – our ward playrooms are fully funded by your donations. That includes toys, sensory room equipment and activities to cheer everyone up 🙂 Patients living with dementia - charitable funds mean that we can do more; whether that's providing dementia-friendly signage on wards to promote independence or even refurbishing an entire ward to promote feelings of comfort, calm and happy times from the past 😴 Exhausted parents – anyone that’s experienced the worry of a child in hospital will know they won’t want to leave their bedside. Recliner chairs mean that mums and dads have somewhere to rest their heads 💁♀️ Enhancements for patients undergoing cancer treatment - if it's beyond the provision of the NHS and we can fund something to make the experience a better one, we'll do what we can. Your donations have funded cooling caps to reduce hairloss and specialist support to provide guidance on preparing for the emotional and physical changes brought on by chemotherapy treatment 💜 Bereaved parents – at the most heart-breaking of times, it’s your donations that fund private and comfortable rooms where our NHS teams can provide the specific care and support needed We support all areas of our hospitals – together we can go further. What exactly are BRETS, the innovative pajamas we're making for metro-Detroit children who face terminal and chronic illnesses that frequently leave them hospitalized? When most children are admitted to a hospital, they're given bed gowns which can leave them feeling vulnerable and exposed. Our pajamas are designed with snaps in the seems to allow medical staff to attend to the patient while remaining fully clothed. The tops have a v-shaped neck to accommodate medical instruments as well as an opening on the chest for cancer ports or other medical wires or tubes. The bottoms have buttons on the waistline to adjust for any weight changes and have elastic so the patient is comfortable lying down or sitting up. Learn more about BRETS and how you can support our mission. https://bit.ly/3K29yaK #BretStrong #NonProfit #NonProfitLife #Charity #CharitySupport #SocEnt #MakingADifference #CommunityImpact #TogetherWeCan #SupportTheCause #MetroDetroit #OaklandCounty #WayneCounty #MacombCounty #BretBigelowFoundation

Understanding when to get admitted into hospice care Some people think that you only have hospice care when you are dying, but this is not true. A hospice palliative care team might help control symptoms such as pain or breathlessness early on in your illness, with you staying at the hospice for a few days before going home again. Or you might go into the hospice so that your family or carers can have a break from looking after you for a short while. This is called respite care. But not all hospices offer this service. Ask your #sparshhospice if it can offer you respite care. Some people have a number of periods of hospice care, depending on their condition and their wishes. Hospice care is free, paid for through a combination of funding and public donation. You can contact a hospice directly yourself. Places are limited, but you can contact your hospice to see what is available. #compassinatecare #palliativecare #qualityoflife

Hospices are in crisis. It may come as a surprise, but only 16% of our funding comes from the government. End-of-life care is an essential service, not a luxury, yet it is not funded like other care services. As a charity, we depend on the kindness of supporters like you to help us raise the additional £15,000 a day needed to keep our services running. St. Michael's Hospice is facing a stark reality: without your support, we may not be here for everyone who needs us. We urgently need your help to continue providing vital support, pain management, and end-of-life care to patients and families in Basingstoke and North Hampshire. Please donate to our Urgent Care Appeal and help us close the funding gap: https://lnkd.in/e3E3CbCn Together, we can continue to be there when people need us most. #HospiceCare #Basingstoke #StMichaelsHospice #UrgentCareAppeal

With the onset of spring, our thoughts turn to renewal and growth, but it's also a time to consider safety. As the season brings more outdoor activities and gatherings, the importance of having accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) cannot be overstated. Did you know that according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention... ❤️🩹Approximately 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes occur every year in the United States. ❤️🩹More than 800,000 people in the United States die from cardiovascular disease each year, about 160,000 of those deaths occurring in people under age 65. ❤️🩹Heart disease kills roughly the same number of people in the United States each year as cancer, lower respiratory diseases (including pneumonia), and accidents combined. This Fundraiser Friday, we hope to complete our original February goal of raising $3,000 to purchase 2 AEDs. So far, we've already raised over $1,300! AED stands for “Automated External Defibrillator" and it's a portable electronic device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by delivering an electric shock to the heart to restore its normal rhythm. AEDs are simple to use, even for those without a background in medicine and are frequently found in public spaces like schools, airports, offices and healthcare settings. It’s designed to automatically analyze a person’s heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock if necessary to restore a normal heartbeat. AEDs can significantly increase a person’s chances of survival. In fact, AEDs can improve the survival rate for people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest by up to 75 percent! The purchase of 2 AEDs will help us in our goal of outfitting all Lancaster EMS vehicles with the device. Join us this Fundraiser Friday as we rally together to raise funds for AEDs, empowering us all to respond swiftly in times of cardiac emergencies. Together, let's make this spring season safer and brighter for everyone. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), we rely directly on the community we serve for support. Lancaster EMS does not receive direct tax dollars. Will you be a heart hero this April? Click on the link below to donate⬇️🖥️ Or, donate via mail by sending cash or check to our West station at 100 E Charlotte Street, Millersville, PA, 17551📨 #ems #hearthealth #AED #Fundraising #lancasterpa #CardiovascularHealth #nonprofit https://lnkd.in/eszKVV7M

A regular, reliable income is essential for St Ann’s, enabling us to care for patients and their loved ones, like Joanna, both now and in the future. 🩵 One of the best ways to support us is through regular donations. This provides a stable income stream for the hospice, allowing us to plan more effectively, operate more efficiently, and help as many people as possible who are impacted by life-limiting illnesses. You can choose to donate monthly, quarterly, or annually, and the amount is entirely up to you. Learn more about regular giving and the difference you can make here: https://buff.ly/4f7zzTX
