“Why do you have to ask the same question 7 times on different days?”, a colleague asked as I was discussing my PhD research. “My study is focused on employee emotions, which are transient states,” I responded. “So, if we really want to understand how employees feel, we have to ask more than once!” The same principles apply to employee listening. Employee listening programs are a great tool for enhancing HR strategic foresight, employee experience and organizational productivity. Where should we start🤷♀️: 🔢People analytics: Don’t run away from data, analytics help to objectively listen to a large number of employees at the same time. This data can be leveraged to create actionable solutions. So think beyond descriptive analytics and use your data to predict and formulate employee experience through AI and machine learning. 🔊Listen: Use multiple channels to listen to your employees, “ask the same question on different days”. Annual engagement surveys, ad-hoc pulse surveys, employee resource groups, and formal communication channels are great tactics for achieving this. 🔀Implment through experimentation: Your analytics and listening will allow you to create agile initiatives to enhance employee experience such as recognition programs and digital onboarding platforms. ⏭️Future ready organization: Leverage the outcomes of your employee listening programs to support a future ready organization with an engaged workforce. #employeelistening #peopleanalytics #hr
