My first year at Acoustic Studio has certainly been a productive one - I, along with Briony Croft and Jordan McMahon - have published another Technical Note in the Acoustics Australia journal. This paper examines the policy overlap between the NSW Rail Infrastructure Noise Guideline (RING) and the NSW Noise Policy for Industry (NPfI), and how this overlap results in both documents being potentially applicable in the specific circumstance of assessing air conditioning noise from light rail vehicles idling at terminus locations. There could be vastly different outcomes in terms of noise mitigation, so it is important to consider this policy overlap carefully. If you'd like to hear our opinion on the topic, the paper is available here: https://lnkd.in/gTDPFYv2 You can also preview the paper here: https://rdcu.be/dK65r If you've got any questions or comments please share them with me - I would enjoy discussing this with you!

Roundabouts are a safe alternative to traffic signals and stop signs—so long as they're well-lit. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation knew this, and they knew that conventional street lighting, with its complex installation and high operating costs, wouldn't be an option. Fortunately, Sol and Acuity Brands/American Electrical Lighting (AEL) had the answer: a solar-powered system that provides reliable light at IES-recommended levels, a quick and flexible install, and zero recurring utility costs 💪 https://lnkd.in/gJ4wVxvr

1moThis seems to be the obvious way forward after this weeks events. This is achievable. We have insulated under our timber floor using the Ecological Building systems technique, we have solid walls and our home is now fully electrified. Our ASHP is running at a SCOP of 4.2 and rising and it is cheaper than gas.The house is at a consistent 20 degrees and more comfortable than ever.
