Hang it in your office. #EA #ENTERPRISEARCHITECTURE Enterprise Architecture is the architecture of the enterprise, not its information systems. It describes the company's architecture as a whole, and consequently that includes (but it is not limited to) the architecture of its Business and the IT that supports it. And just to make it extra clear: NO, its not just the set of both "Business architecture" and "IT Architecture". It is the architecture of what connects these to the company's purpose (its mission) and the strategy to achieve it. Merijn overhauled the original short text with some additional important details, and it got extra nice, without making it too long. It reads: EA is much more than just a technical blueprint or a collection of models. It is the architecture of the organization as a whole, not just of the information systems. As Lead Architect, this means that, together with the Architecture team, I continuously seek the connection between the mission of the organization – "Understanding Society" – and the strategies to achieve that mission. This includes not only our education and research processes, but also the IT that supports them, as well as the way we collaborate, innovate and create value. And let's make one thing clear: Enterprise Architecture is NOT simply the sum of "Business Architecture" and "IT Architecture". It is precisely the bridge between these domains, focused on how they contribute to our mission and strategy. Architecture should not be seen as a static model, but as a dynamic and strategic instrument. It not only helps us to weigh up choices better, but above all to strengthen cooperation between teams and to keep focus on what really matters. EA is not just technology. It is strategic thinking in connection. 👇
