Despite the vital role they play in preparing the next generation to thrive. The median pay for child care workers, who typically must hold a range of credentials, was $28,520 per year, less than customer service representatives ($18.16), retail sales positions ($14.26), and restaurant jobs ($14) that don’t require the same level of education. At Kids Co., we have been able to change this statistic by providing our staff better wages. And it’s all thanks to the generosity of our donors. What will the impact of the election be on non-profits and social services? 25% of my clients are usually non-profits, so I was fascinated to attend this panel on the state of nonprofits post-election. Key takeaways (independent of how you voted) ⚽ Funding will decrease for non-profits, even in the blue states. ⚽ There's going to a be a lot more pressure on the systems and services for the least among us ⚽ Much funding and policies happens at the Federal level, so we will need to work with purple states to get things done ⚽ Many non-profit workers have or were hoping for loan forgiveness. This will put a lot of pressure on those already living paycheck to paycheck and stressed out ⚽ Funding, contracts, and approvals organizations were expecting are non at risk or cancelled. I'm suggesting that my non-profit clients do a SWOT analysis to think through the impact and opportunities given the change in administration. Thanks to David Crowley for inviting me. Featuring wisdom from Michael Curry, Esq. Jim Klocke, Lori Smith Britton, Kate-Marie Roycroft, Wyona M. Lynch-McWhite and moderated by Leigh Handschuh Thanks to Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School and Sonia Alleyne, MPA for organizing it! #strategy #election2024 #nonprofits hashtag #welcomingcommunities

The Generosity Commission has released its report providing a rigorous analysis of generosity as expressed in everyday volunteering and giving -- and a set of concrete recommendations to protect and promote the future of generosity. Bottom line: While the aggregate amount of money flowing to non-profits continues to grow, there is a decline, observable across multiple surveys, in the proportion of Americans who give to and volunteer with non-profits. At the same time, Edelman Data & Intelligence research highlights that in the last year, trust in non-profits increased by 5 percentage points to 57%. In a divisive election year, when respondents reported lower levels of trust in almost every other sector -- from small businesses to the news media -- these numbers are significant. They remind us that the public continues to believe that non-profits will do the right thing. The non-profit sector embodies the finest ideals of American character through 1.5 million organizations, 14 million employees, countless volunteers and $557 billion in private giving. As depicted in graphic, the Eskin Fundraising Training learning community mantra is that we have always been, remain and will continue to be Non-Profit Strong!

Some common misconceptions about the nonprofit industry include: 1. All non-profits are small and volunteer-run: While many non-profits are small grassroots organizations, there are also large non-profits with significant budgets and staff members. 2. Non-profits don't need to be financially sustainable: Non-profits still need sound financial management to operate effectively and fulfill their mission in the long term. 3. Non-profits don't pay their employees: Non-profit employees are typically paid; however, their salaries may be lower than those in the for-profit sector. 4. All non-profits are automatically tax-exempt: Non-profits need to apply for and meet specific criteria to obtain tax-exempt status from the IRS. 5. Non-profits should focus solely on altruism and not profitability: Non-profits can be both mission-driven and use sustainable business practices to generate revenue to support their programs.

Day 2 of #12DaysOfQSRs! For the second day I am highlighting Giving Kitchen. Although not technically a #QSR, the work they do is directly related to QSRs. I felt like what better time to share their mission than during the holiday season of giving and the week of Giving Tuesday. Giving Kitchen is a non-profit organization that services food service workers who are in crisis. They provide financial support and community resources to those in need. "Giving Kitchen is building a food service community where crisis is met with care." This is an incredibly important organization to include in the conversation surrounding QSRs. We often talk about what QSRs bring to the table, forgetting about WHO is ensuring we have these items. Employees are the back-bone of the industry and Giving Kitchen understands this. They have helped over 25,000 food service workers and the number keeps climbing. Linked below is their website where you can find more information about their mission, their origin story, how to get support, and how to donate. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/erh26CTm #GivingKitchen #Support #QuickByteCrew #GivingTuesday

A report I read yesterday stated that $15.9 billion dollars was given to candidates and political action committees during this election cycle. This is an amazing total considering many if not most nonprofits are reporting a decrease in donations. Meanwhile the candidates and their political action committees spend those billions trashing each other with behavior worse than 5 year old children in the playground. Imagine what nonprofits as a sector could do to reduce homelessness, food insecurity, childcare, eldercare and other issues of society with over $15 billion dollars. Think of those statistics when you wonder about why this country has been heading in a negative direction in many critical areas. #nonprofit #nonprofits #nonprofitorganization #contributions #fundraising

Let’s talk about stark raving mad misperceptions about the #nonprofit sector and people who work here. Add your additions with colorful language just below 👇 🌰this one really makes me bonkers. Nonprofits attract people who can’t heck it in for profits or don’t want to work too hard. 🖕some of the hardest and most multi-faceted people I’ve ever met devote their talents to charitable sector. It also takes a whole lot of talent to make donors feel hopeful and committed to a cause. 🌰 not understanding that “nonprofit” does not mean we don’t make money 💰- it’s just that money gets invested in mission. Different definitions of success and profit. 🌰thinking that all nonprofits are created the same. I mean Ivy League schools are nonprofits with billions in the coffers and there are orgs that are largely run by volunteers. Very different indeed. What would you add to this list?
