What inspired you to work in disability care? Ohh, got nine children. I've been through bits of rough stuff earlier on in the days when I was a young fella, and now I want to help people. I run a merry culture group, so I look after people in the community already and this was just a bit more advanced where I could go out and help people that were disadvantaged. Yeah. Yeah. Awesome. Can you know you're most fulfilling story from your career and disability support so far? Probably. I work with a lot of young men. They they they struggle, they're on drugs. Alcohol, things like that. I've got one young man that I'm working with at the moment. We've had him off the drugs now for six months. He's moving forward in his life, he's trying to get his license now. Just little things like that. Very important that they feel their own self esteem build. And when we move into the future, he'll have a future to look forward to. Awesome, thank you.
In disability care, support circles are groups of people who come together to provide ongoing support to an individual with a disability. They include family, friends, caregivers, and professionals who collaborate to help the person achieve their personal goals, maintain independence, and engage in the community. The circle works together to coordinate care, ensuring that both emotional and practical needs are met.
Support circles are designed to promote the autonomy of the individual, and their confidence in navigating the world, people and life circumstances.
Members of a person's support circle help in planning and coordinating services that are in line with the person’s long-term life goals, enabling them to take part in community activities, develop life skills, and make informed choices about their future.
Support circles are therefore flexible and adapt as the individual’s needs change.

This conversation is between Dev Singh AUS MBA. and Lisa Evans, COO at Scope (Aust), discusses her lived experience as a nurse and now in my role within the disability ecosystem has been a profound journey marked by a deepening of empathy and understanding. Her nursing background, which she draws upon daily, has become even more relevant and integral in my current position, particularly as CEO of Accord.
In the disability sector, her focus is not only on extending life but also on ensuring quality of life. It's about creating environments where individuals can thrive, experience joy, and receive the necessary medical and personal care. This requires a holistic approach that addresses both medical needs and the broader aspects of well-being.
In essence, her journey has underscored the importance of empathy, comprehensive support, and a holistic approach to care. By leveraging her nursing background and lived experience, She strive to contribute to the ongoing evolution of the disability ecosystem, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the support and dignity they deserve.

#marketingmonday - What is your "WHY"?
Why did you start your business?
Why is it that you do what you do?
Why have you gone down that path?
These are essential questions to answer to build rapport and authenticity with your participants, their carers and families, but also the wider community.
Why?
Because more than likely - they are asking themselves the same things.
WHY should I CHOOSE this business to work with?
Why should I work with them?
Why should I trust my child/partner/friend in their care?
To give you some insight into our WHY for our business:
Why did we start it?
Because we are seeing NDIS Service Providers, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers struggling with the how to and what do I need to do - within their businesses - the better we can support you - the better you will support participants.
Why is it that we do what we do?
We have a passion for business, training, education and disability/community services.
Why have we gone down this path?
We either know of or have family members in the NDIS sector and we want to help improve and upskill businesses to better support their participants and learn ways to better improve themselves and their businesses at the same time.
