Blackstone have recently released interesting research showing the dispersion between top and bottom quartile managers in private markets is significantly greater than public markets. For public equity managers, the performance differential was 1.7% p.a. over the last 5 years compared to 15% p.a. for Private Equity. This underlines why manager selection is critical in private markets and why a fund-of-fund approach to Private Equity with a manager like Vantage that has a track record of identifying top quartile managers can be a sensible one for investors looking to invest in the asset class. #privateequity
