Two reflections on today's webinar hosted by the marvellous Jennifer Cahill and Cosegic 📈 As Jennifer explained, embedding the Consumer Duty is about evidence. Will your board report be backed by hard evidence? Do you have the MI? 😴 Can you evidence that inert closed book customers are making informed decisions? This is a high evidential bar to meet. Especially where the closed book product is poorer value than open book products. But, if you can show that customers are actively choosing to stay on the back book product... then you can be more confident that they are getting good outcomes. #consumerduty #behaviouralscience

There has been a general decline in the status of the doctor as mob harassment and lawsuits have increased exponentially, contributing to even more strained doctor–patient relationship. Despite being good in their profession, when it comes to taking due measures to avoid mistakes or to handle medicolegal situations, only a few doctors are able to face the situation adeptly. Record-keeping, informed consent, and proper documentation form the basis of safe medical practice. Unexpected death in hospital or OT is a tricky issue and how to deal with it, how to manage the mob and media, when to send the body for postmortem examination, and how to complete the documentation in such cases, are all incorporated in the book. In writing exercise prescriptions, the interesting aspect is that beginning at a low intensity level can make any kind of progress seem effective. On the other hand, starting at the threshold (an appropriate defined capability) reveals whether the change is an adaptation or simply following a predefined plan.

The Tyranny of Metrics - This book provides several interesting viewpoints on the use and possibly overuse of metrics ('metric fixation') in the fields of business, finance, academia, and medicine. Here is a thought provoking sentence from the book "Sometimes recognizing the limits of the possible is the beginning of wisdom." Metrics are valuable and can be an effective mechanism when used wisely.
