NEW EPISODE in our series Why the Rest Hates the West!! Following tradition used to be self-evidently common sense. Of course our ancestors got things right — or we wouldn't be here. Of course the old person was likely to be wiser than the rest of us; when most of us were dead sometime between our late 20s and early 40s, he or she was a success story *by definition*. But things look different now. So different, that we Westerners have been telling ourselves since the 18th century that our ancestors were unjust, stupid, and wrong. Not like us. At all. The moderns were going to make a wonderful new world, based upon their rationalist axioms. Except that now, we don't believe that either. To be sure, we have much higher living standards — and live, oooh, much longer. But we appear to have destroyed the planet in the process, and the future is looking bleak. We no longer expect even to be as well off as our parents — let alone better off than they were. How does all of this look from outside our Western bubble — to people for whom tradition, though badly shaken, still makes common sense? Watch to the end for the slam dunk!

HUH? If you’re curious to view an impressive visual of the ‘huh-factor’, then watch this YouTube video to at least 7:25. Better yet, to add to your indecision of Joe Biden’s dilemma( “should I stay or should I go”), then watch the whole episode.
