Healing Circles: Safe Spaces for Growth and Resilience At Pattigift Therapy, we proudly offer Healing Circles, nurturing and supportive spaces designed to foster empathy, personal growth, and social cohesion. These circles provide invaluable opportunities for individuals to share their stories, challenge racism, and in doing so, reclaim their power and address its psychological, physical, and spiritual impacts. Our Healing Circles utilise an African-centred therapeutic model, providing culturally specific strategies and resources to enhance resilience and healing. By countering deficient notions of Black people, we create environments where participants feel empowered to engage in meaningful conversations and build a stronger sense of community. They are created for us and by us, where we come together to tell our stories and process healing from both the historical and contemporary issues around race and anti-blackness. In these circles, we serve as each other's medicine; the different aspects of the healing circles come to represent an ongoing movement, this growing movement of liberation with the potential to change our communities. Community members have consistently found our circles to be profoundly beneficial, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. Together, we are creating a powerful movement towards healing and transformation, and your participation is crucial to its success. Join us in these transformative spaces. Let's grow, heal, and build resilience together. I recently made a post that I realize may have been misleading and potentially harmful to the collective. Sometimes I miss the mark. I am humbled by those who brought this to my attention by their reflections and comments. It gave me pause. I have edited the original post with more careful thought and reflection to more accurately represent my curiosity about the comment that was made to me that initiated that original post. I hope this better clarifies my position and if anyone has questions or wants to dialogue further - please do!! Here are my thoughts about "needing" meetings or the fellowship after a period of long-term sobriety. After 19 years sober, do I still "need" AA meetings daily? Not necessarily, but connection and service remain vital. AA gave me the foundation to recover from alcoholism through the process of the 12-steps. It brought about a spiritual awakening and personality change that led to lasting sobriety. The goal was never to hide in meetings forever, but to practice these principles in all areas of my life - as we are instructed in the literature. To the best of my ability, I believe I am doing that. I still attend meetings occasionally to see friends, seek community, and carry a message of hope to newcomers. I lead a weekly Big Book study because I LOVE the literature. But at this stage, I don't feel that I personally "need" daily meetings to stay sober. However, I absolutely need fellowship, community, and connection. I need to stay active in service, continue growing, maintain spiritual connection, and give back. My deeper healing came after getting sober, especially through plant medicine work to address underlying trauma. Getting sober was just the beginning. AA gave me the foundation, but my journey of healing and growth has continued far beyond the rooms. I'm eternally grateful for how AA saved my life and started me on this path. For those new to recovery, meetings can be essential. But with long-term sobriety, needs may change. The keys for me have been service, spiritual growth and maintaining connection, as Johann Hari said: "The opposite of addiction is not recovery. The opposite of addiction is CONNECTION." I'll always cherish AA and the fellowship for beginning my journey home. After 19 years, I'm still evolving and transforming. Sobriety opened the door to profound healing and growth I never imagined possible. #recovery #sobriety #AA #addiction #healing

As a hypnotherapist I understand more now the importance of the relationship between child and mother, it is the most fundamental relationship for our children to grow up connected to themselves, to feel secure, comfortable, safe, protected, loved, lovable, and enough! I’ve seen many adults that are now reparenting their inner child and that’s beautiful to witness. #innerchild #stressreduction #hypnotherapy #regressiontherapy

"Only by centering healing practices in the sector’s ways of working can we create the inner spaciousness and external conditions for system transformation to occur." At NBF, Collective Healing is when a group or community acknowledges and addresses shared traumas, injustices, or wounds to foster resilience, reconciliation, and mutual well-being through communal support, understanding, and transformative action. We view Collective Healing as a necessary step towards achieving Collective Liberation. Check out this article by Laura Calderon de la Barca, Katherine Milligan, and John Kania in Stanford Social Innovation Review on the importance of collective healing and acknowledging and addressing collective trauma in order to make real systems change. https://lnkd.in/g7XrW5iN #collectivehealing #collectivetrauma #healingsystems
