Air Arabia, a low-cost carrier based in Sharjah, has initiated a new service to Basra, Iraq. Commencing from June 3, the new direct flights will link Sharjah International Airport to Basra International Airport with a frequency of three flights per week.
Basra becomes Air Arabia's fourth destination in Iraq, joining Baghdad, Erbil, and Najaf.
In 2023, the airline experienced significant growth in net earnings, reaching 1.5 billion dirhams ($408.4 million), marking a 27% increase from the previous year's AED 1.2 billion.
However, the net profit for Q4 2023 was recorded at AED 225 million, reflecting a 37% decrease from the same period in 2022.
During the previous year, Air Arabia expanded its operations by introducing 26 new routes within its global network. Additionally, it witnessed a 31% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, with a total of 16.7 million passengers transported.
