Here’s the deal 👇🏻 But first, if you like anything about this follow us for more! For years, real estate brokerage firms were only required to enter into written agreements with sellers, not buyers. On January 1, 2024, the Agency Law now requires firms to enter into a written “brokerage services agreement” with any party the firm represents, both sellers and buyers. This change is to ensure that buyers (in addition to sellers) clearly understand the terms of the firm’s representation and compensation.” This will require you sign this contract with your realtor BEFORE you go look at houses. This may seem like an annoyance but I challenge you to think of it as the positive it is. Honestly, having a buyer’s agency agreement with your Realtor is an extra layer protection (and education!) for you as the buyer. You will be sitting down and having a conversation with us about some really important things that you need to know before you start shopping for what will probably be the largest (and most significant, nerve wracking, exciting & expensive) purchase of your life. Things like how we, as your Realtor, will be compensated, who will do the compensating, what areas we will work in and a myriad of other things that are of the utmost importance and should absolutely be discussed between you and your Realtor. Unfortunately, this conversation wasn’t always happening between buyers & their realtors and now we have a law in place to ensure you, as a buyer, are getting all the information you need to make your real estate venture as transparent and successful as possible.
