Yesterday, I was working on a presentation that shared the journey of MedSurvey's Account Management team. There was a bullet point that I wrote which gave me pause and prompted some reflection. On January 1, 2023, MedSurvey’s Account Management team had a headcount of zero. By the end of April 2024, the team will grow to six members with a combined 75 years of experience in market research. Even more incredible is that five of the six team members will have been with MedSurvey for less than one year. The team now supports nearly 84% of the company’s sales targets and leads nearly 65% of the sales targets for this year—meaning they manage the accounts without the support of a business development lead. Building a new department from scratch in an organization that has been around for over 20 years and has seen year-over-year growth and success has been a journey filled with ups and downs, reflection, self-doubt, inspiration, and everything in between. For anyone going through a similar experience, or about to embark on such a journey, I've learned numerous lessons along the way. However, these are the five most important as I look back over the past 15 months: 1) Focus on hiring the right people, not just to fill a role. 2) Build a team with diverse backgrounds and experiences to bring in different perspectives. 3) Skills matter, but mindset and culture matter more. 4) Maintain a bias for action, fail fast, and be comfortable with being wrong. 5) Most importantly, provide the vision, context, and support your people need to succeed, and then let them set the standard as a team. #mrx #growth #leadership

One on one time is integral with loved ones and employees! Managers who choose to spend even 10 minutes of one on one time at a sales meetings with their reps tend to have better relationships and less turnover. VP's and managers who ride along with their reps have better relationships and usually better performance. Couples who make date night happen and make each other a priority have better relationships. When a sales rep, loved one, or employee feels valued they tend to give it their all more often. Culture isn't created by having a ping pong table at your corporate office. Culture is created by making your most important resource, your PEOPLE, feel valued and heard. It takes time and sacrifice but is worth it. I don't get many one on ones nights with my kiddos. After a rough week, my son and I bonded. We shot hoops and talked. I let him know that I will ALWAYS push him but am also always here if he has anything he wants to ask me or talk to me about. I told him he can always count on me and that I will always have his back. I'm going to do the same with my daughter. Managers.... Can't we all do a better job of this?
