[Why a Zebra? 🦓] Last February 29th, a *rare* date in our calendar, marked #RareDiseaseDay, and *zebras* appeared all over the media referring to this commemoration day. But why? 🤔
Well, I learned from “Zebby”, UCB’s newest HQ employee 😉 that zebras are symbolic of #RareDiseases because in the medical world, doctors often use the term "zebra" to describe a rare or unusual diagnosis.
This stems from the saying, "When you hear hoofbeats, you think of horses, not zebras," which suggests that common conditions are more likely than rare ones.
Therefore, the zebra has become a symbol of the unusual and unexpected in the medical realm. 🦓🤩
Did you learn something new like I did? Then share it further and raise the awareness about rare diseases and the impact they have on people living with them and their families. 😍
So proud to be #TeamUCB, a company committed to delivering long-lasting value to people living with such diseases.
