🍷 This year’s edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) took place between the 7th and 9th of June, in Guanajuato, Mexico. Experts from the international wine sector tasted 7,500 white and red wines from 42 countries. Of the 846 Portuguese wines registered, 299 received a medal, representing more than 35% of total registrations, highlighting the quality of the Portuguese wines 🏅 According to Maria João de Almeida “Buyers, journalists, wine traders, oenologists, among other experts represent 45 nationalities and blindly taste the wines entered in the competition. The only information they receive about the wine is its harvest year. Of all the wines entered, only 30% take home a medal.” Founded in 1994, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) is acknowledged as a world reference for wine competitions. Its independence, stringent standards and tasting procedures offer reassurance for consumers, enabling them to buy medal-winning wines with complete confidence. Last weekend we attended SommCon Conference & Beverage Expo - a world leading wine and spirits expo comprising of tastings, education, networking, mentorship and competitions. It was our first time exhibiting in the US, and was a bit last minute, but we decided to enter the wine competition, the SommCon 2024 Concours d'Vin. Now we knew that : - the competition was blind - we were being judged against alcohol wines - there was no category for non-alcoholic And guess what? BOLLE Blanc de Blancs and BOLLE Rosé both won Silver medals ! Let’s dwell on this for a moment. A panel of top sommeliers and Masters of Wine, not knowing we were non-alcoholic and judging us against full alcohol wine criteria, gave both of our wines silver medals!! Wow. One judge spoke to us after the results were out saying "I didn't know you were non-alcoholic - we awarded you Silver - that’s incredible" The feedback from the rest of the show was amazing. We had Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, CEOs, Distributors, Owners stunned at the quality of our product. This is the standard that BOLLE sets itself. We don't really care to compete with other non-alcoholic wines, we want to be compared to the best wines. Once again, BOLLE has proved itself to be not just a delicious drink but a wine that can go up against alcoholic wines and win! Tasting is Bollieving #wine #competition #winning #bestwine #incredible

Are wine trade fairs still worth the hype? I left Düsseldorf & Prowein last week with mixed feelings. My pros: + it’s a good opportunity to meet my customers. + it’s a great way to connect & catch up with people from the wine industry worldwide +be updated on the Latest trends: guess what, almost an entirely hall was devoted to zero alcohol wines & spirits ! My cons: -Expensive accommodation -Huge lines outside the show waiting for a cab or an Uber -strikes and canceled flights (second year in a row), with a lot of people trying to figure out how to get home… - How come that the 3 main wine trade shows in Europe are only few weeks apart (Wine Paris, Prowein and Vinitaly) ?! This goes at the cost of the wine industry and of wine makers in particular. Are they still the right place to make new customers? I doubt it and I think that there’s need for a change and for news ideas for the wine industry. Have you been to any trade show lately? I would love to read your comments! #wine #winelovers #winebusiness #wineindustry
