I’m feeling the unrelenting devastation of Hurricane Helene in Asheville, NC and throughout the region, and accelerating impacts of climate change. So right now, I’m taking Mr. Rogers’ advice to “look for the helpers,” and working to be a helper myself. That comes easily to me when I am working with my own nonprofit clients, a little harder when thinking about a disaster across the country. But disaster relief experts say the best help is simple (and familiar). Donate Now. Can you join me in sending a donation to the groups below? If you're a nonprofit professional, can you encourage your network to support these and other organizations in the region? Great organizations are helping people with food, shelter and resources: Mutual aid nonprofit BeLoved Asheville - https://lnkd.in/gJmvPuFk Feeding the Carolinas - https://lnkd.in/gwi9jMdP MANNA FoodBank - https://lnkd.in/gv3tivVu And those helping pets: Forsyth Humane Society - https://forsythhumane.org/ - is caring for 100 animals evacuated from Asheville Humane Society - https://lnkd.in/g3CEFwA7. They are both in need. Brother Wolf Animal Shelter - https://www.bwar.org/ was able to save all their animals but lost everything in the devastating floods. These are just a fraction of the dozens of effective nonprofits working on the ground. And let me know, what other disaster relief organizations are you supporting? #hurricanehelene #disasterrelief #givelocal #nonprofits

In 1970, community members in New Hope, Minnesota, joined with faith-based partners to establish People Responding in Social Ministry (PRISM, Golden Valley MN) to help neighbors struggling with food insecurity. What began as a small shed of essentials in New Hope has grown into a resource serving a larger community area, stretching into Plymouth, Crystal, New Hope, Robbinsdale, and Golden Valley. PRISM’s mission is to provide social services and connections that empower people to build healthy, stable lives. Programs include the Marketplace Food Shelf, housing assistance, Shop for Change thrift store, and children’s programs offering birthday party supplies, a Holiday Toy Shoppe, and back-to-school items. As food insecurity rises, PRISM remains a crucial resource. Before the pandemic, 1 in 11 families faced hunger; today, it’s 1 in 6. Despite these challenges, PRISM treats every participant with dignity and compassion, providing vital services while honoring the resilience of the individuals they serve. “We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” Brené Brown Our cleanup efforts are coming along, we’ve been pulling our wet sheet rock downstairs and are assessing the rest. It isn’t fun and I’d be lying if I told you I’ve had a positive attitude about this. I’ve been annoyed, tired, bitter, frustrated, and sad. I know it could be so much worse, and this sucks too. The silver lining is COMMUNITY. As a family we are doing this together. As a neighborhood we are sharing info and checking in on neighbors. As an island we are sharing resources, identifying open businesses so we can support them, and figuring this out together. We appreciate all of your love and support 💗 These pictures look deceivingly “clean”, but it’s a mess for sure. Sharing because so many of you have asked, and I am so grateful for all of your offers of support. We heard electric was turned on last night (Saturday) after we left for our hotel. We check out today and will go home. The boys school is still being assessed and they may have to be in a different building for a bit. It will all get worked out, but for now it feels very disorganized. This week my priorities are: 1- Family - be present and help them feel good mentally and physically 2- My Season of Success workshop - I need to clarify and re-prioritize my 4th quarter goals just as much as the attendees I appreciate all of your kind words and patience as we pull this all together! I hope whatever struggle you are facing right now, you know that you aren’t alone. Support is all around you - ask for it and accept it. It makes a world of difference 💫 #allinclusiveyou #worklifesuccess #hurricanesoflife #sanibelstrong #community #strongertogether
