Accounting tasks are one of the biggest annual stressors for over half of small business owners. This #stressswarenessmonth we’re taking the stress out of accounting. We don’t believe in just ‘sorting out your books,’ we look beyond the numbers. This means that we take a strategic approach to accounting, looking at your unique business, what makes it tick, its story, its goals, and its people. We work as an extension of your own in-house capabilities – and if you don’t already have this we will act as your dedicated FD. Take a look at how we’re helping you navigate the year ahead and our range of services: https://lnkd.in/eHBF6Bn2 #stressawarenessmonth #stress #stressawareness #taxadvice #accounting

As a #businessconsultant, I conduct in-depth audits on all areas of a business, delivering a strategically prioritized roadmap of next steps. After seeing behind 100+ businesses over the last 3 years, here are the most common themes I find in an audit and what we do to solve them: 1. Accounting: By far, one of the most overlooked and highest areas of drudgery for a business owner is their numbers. How we address it ➡️ we use our proprietary Profitability Calculator to determine which offers generate the highest profit. We then support the business owner in determining how to elevate those offers that best pad their bottom line. We deliver each owner their personalized calculator along with recommendations for bookkeeping, accounting, and taxes for the management of their money. 2. Client Processes: Most business owners have just "figured it out" along the way, never having taken the time to pause and think through what the start-to-finish journey for their clients looks like. How we address it ➡️ we prompt the business owner to talk through every single step of work they do, starting at the very beginning and working all the way to the end. Detailing out every "yes" and "no" along the way to build out a complete workflow. We deliver a document that walks through each portion, with actions needing to be addressed highlighted, and a checklist of tasks to be completed. 3. Service Suite: Figuring out how to seamlessly upsell and down sell, while creating offers that solve problems is a continuous challenge for our clients. How we address it ➡️ most business owners have 1 of 2 problems: too few offers or too many offers. An audit of what customers are asking for, and what is already being offered typically identifies the next steps. Sometimes we consolidate offers into fewer options to eliminate confusion for the customer. Or we develop 1-2 offers to help better serve clients and create an additional income stream. Trivia Which answer did you pick above 👆🤭? We would love to know in the comment section If you picked **C – The Trial Balance**, you're absolutely right! While the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows are key financial statements used to assess the health of a business, the trial balance is more of an internal accounting tool. It helps ensure that all debits and credits in the general ledger are balanced, but it’s not typically presented to external stakeholders. Here at Rockhill Consulting, We understand the importance of mastering your financials. Whether you're setting up an accounting software or managing your financial reports, it's crucial to know the difference between internal documents and key financial statements. The Chart of Accounts is the backbone of your financials. Most small businesses just go with what is provided to them by QuickBooks or whatever accounting system. Then this leads to reports that are hard to digest and business owners lose the benefit of being able to learn from their numbers and make business decisions. My goal has always been to create systems and processes to HELP business owners run their businesses. And, one easy way to do this is to organize the chart of accounts so they are meaningful to you! So, here’s my question to the small business owners out there… Are you able to make sense of your financials or are you stuck with long reports that are just overwhelming when you try to look at them?
Chart of Accounts Best Practices: Finding Value in Your Financials Have you ever looked at your financial statements and thought to yourself, “I have no clue what this is telling me?” Well, if you have, you aren’t alone. I’ve found this is common among many small business owners. The usual culprit is that your chart of accounts has been set up using the standard accounts from your accounting system and things have become disorganized over time. Here are some of my Chart of Accounts Best Practices to help you better understand your financials. When you can do that, you can use them to help make informed decisions about your business. https://lnkd.in/eaBifXv7 #smallbiz #smallbusiness #accounting #qbo #chartofaccounts #financials
