📍 #Punto de Encuentro, a space for peers to foster social cohesion and local development in a green key. 👀 On November 14th, 2024, in the framework of the puntos de encuentro the Real World Laboratory kicked off in the quarters of @Lab_Genaguacil. Local civil servants, neighbors, and creative minds came together with researchers to redefine the role of rural and remote areas in the green transition. 🥗 Because brainstorming is hard on an empty stomach, locally produced snacks were offered during the Innovation Gatherings. Based on an approach that connects art, heritage, culture and nature these gatherings explored ways to place local knowledge at the heart of rethinking innovation, co-creating processes to unlock local knowledge, foster trust and ambition for collective entrepreneurial action. ♻️ The format was hybrid, yet centered on the now and here. After an introduction by PACSETTERS, the gathering broke up in 3 rooms holding conversations from different perspectives on how local knowledge is at the heart of rethinking innovation: - How to cohabitate with the natural environement? - Every day life with a museum in town. - The question of making something new. The event continues through out the day. Stay tuned and visit https://pacesetters.eu for more information 🌿 Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. DREAM_PACE challenge at the Technische Universität Berlin and BGI - Sustainable Ventures winter school held in #Aveiro (Portugal)! Together with BGI - Sustainable Ventures from Lisbon and the Universidade de Aveiro, Technische Universität Berlin invited 35 students across Europe for the #Innov4Mobility winter school on latest trends in urban mobility and research. “How to reconnect Europe’s rural regions” was the DREAM_PACE challenge set by TU Berlin. 6 students discussed mobility services nowadays and worked on a business idea on #DRT (Demand Responsive Transport) in rural regions. The aim was to develop a social-technological solution to provide villages of the Hinterland with mobility provision. As a result, the group developed - in February 2024 - their DRT-platform CommuniRide in line the principles of blue zones (where people live especially long and healthy) and the integration of local business. #CominiRide does not only aim to guarantee mobility services but also envisions DRT as a collective space of social interaction.

The three-day #insituconference conference provided a great opportunity for connecting with researchers, artists and cultural entrepreneurs from different geographies who focus on the role of cultural practices, policies and creative industries in the sustainable development of rural areas. One of the most important questions of my research project is understanding the cultural impact of creative urban groups on the rural areas where they are located. In this context, I shared my findings from fieldwork conducted in Turkey's southern Aegean towns, reflecting on the sociospatial dynamics of ex-urbanites’ creative occupations, and analyzing their relationships with local rural communities. It seems that cultural impact analysis will gain more significance in the coming period. One of the most valuable outcomes of the conference for me was the opportunity to exchange ideas with organizations preparing to work on this topic. Another key takeaway for me was the importance of reflecting more on cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral dimensions of cultural and creative industries to better understand the practices and productions of creative urban communities in rural areas. Many thanks to the entire IN SITU team for organizing this wonderful conference! #insituconference #creativeruralities #culturalimpactanalysis #ruralgentrification #networkedspaces #sustainabledevelopment #ruralcommunities #exurbancommunities #MSCA #postdoctoralfellowship

The Netherlands, recognised as a European leader in #innovation, is home to more than 100 experimental environments. These environments range from controlled field labs to more open, participatory urban living labs. A consortium, including Alfons van Marrewijk (MBE), has been awarded a prestigious #grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). They want to explore how various forms of innovation in field labs such as the Green Village, in urban living labs such as AMS Institute's Energielab Zuidoost in Amsterdam, and in all kinds of civic initiatives contribute to #sustainability transitions. How can you mainstream innovations from experiments? Read more: https://lnkd.in/eju53_tC NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) | #sustainabletransition

We just spent a week in Pontevedra attending the 10th Degrowth Conference organized by the Conferencia Internacional ESEE-Decrecemento 2024 Pontevedra. 🏓 From theory to practice: The recent conference not only had us discussing the fascinating world of Kate Raworth's Doughnut Economics in relation to our own design practice, but gave us insights into a multitude of approaches around #degrowth and #postgrowth from different disciplines outside of our own. 🏥 Health and Degrowth: one of our big topic at KITE is the co-development of health systems and products together with innovation companies, doctors, nurses, patients and other stakeholder. We were happy to see the topic of "Caring for health within planetary boundaries" was being discussed in a panel with Arianna Rotulo, Hans Eickhoff, Judith Bueno De Mesquita and Shivani Kaul. 🎯 We had a lively discussion with participants when presenting a paper on a perspective on degrowth in design research, and did an experimental #audiowalk on the topic of "sustainability by default" we had a lot of fun conducting with some of the participants of the conference.
