For anyone wondering - "Actually what do you do ah?" We just published our 2023 Annual Report and writing this with the team made me realise how much we achieved in that one year and how exciting 2024 is going to be too. Logistics Sustainability - Who's Going For It? Had an insightful afternoon at the Logistics Sustainability Workshop organized by Enterprise Singapore that emphasized the crucial need for Singapore SMEs in the logistics industry to decarbonize and it's not the first time this importance has been higlighted. Panelists from Unilever and Zuellig Pharma also shared valuable insights on Scope 3 and collaboration for sustainable practices. Gone are the days of using LED lights, recycled paper, electric vehicles or digitalization then claiming that your company has sustainability initiatives, unless you formalise it in a carbon report, otherwise all the efforts are useless! 🌍 Rethinking behavior is a key pillar of packaging sustainability. Grateful for the opportunity to join the #WES project team and #MinistryofEnergyTransitionandSutainableDevelopment on task force for the public awareness campaign to limit the use of the SUP in Morocco and Jordan. It has been an inspiring experience collaborating with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact. Together, we explored the scope of the communication and the overall concept. It is evident that raising consumer awareness is crucial in driving change. In my perspective, we need to sensitize consumers about the importance of using eco-responsible packaging. This means opting for packaging that is designed for recycling, reusable, recyclable, and has minimal impact on our environment. Unilever Sri Lanka is progressing the Plastics reduction and circulation agenda with speed and at scale. Last week we signed a pioneering agreement with the USAID, powered by Vega Innovations (a leading digital solutions partner), to scale up reusable and refillable systems across the country (UFill). For instance, consumers will be able to refill their Dove, Sunsilk and Sunlight bottles instead of purchasing new plastic packaging – and at up to 30% lower cost. Our integrated roadmap for the deployment of the tech as well as driving the required behavioural change, is now inflight. The initiative builds on several other global and local public private partnerships including the CIRCLE alliance between Unilever, EY and USAID and with local authorities in Sri Lanka for the collection of more than 100% of the equivalent plastic we sell into the market. Together, for a cleaner future! In celebration of #WorldCleanupDay2024, we proudly joined forces with Promise (Thailand) Co., Ltd, to uplift the community at Chumchon Moobaan Pattana School in Klong Toey, Bangkok. We organized hands-on learning experiences, including interactive workshops and a Waste Collection Challenge, igniting the students’ passion for sustainability. To boost waste management practices, we donated recycling bins and composting facilities, equipping them with essential knowledge on reducing, reusing, and recycling.
