🚀 France set to bet on #floating #wind in 10 GW tender   The tender will include one zone for fixed-bottom wind – featuring two projects of 2GW each – in the English Channel, plus three additional zones for floating wind: a 1.2-2GW area in the North Atlantic off the coast of Brittany, a 1.2GW area in the Atlantic off the coast of Gascony, and a 2GW area in the Gulf of Lyon in the Mediterranean. This call for tenders should make it possible to achieve the objective of 18 GW in service in 2035, and contribute to the target of reaching 45 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050.   Attention is now on the steps to follow within the next quarter: 👉 Offshore wind auction framework, considering allotment strategy, development timelines along State derisking studies, prequalification criteria, and route to market options. 👉 Launch of the pre-qualification phase, early 2025                                      Word is spreading that Natural Power have relevant #offshore 🌍 ESIA, 🔭 Bid Strategy and 👥 owner’s engineer experience in France and well established relationships with National and Regional stakeholders, NGOs, Institutional Bodies, Supply Chain, and Universities. 🌊 Europe's first commercial-scale #floatingwind auction has had observers scratch their heads. The winning price for the site off the coast of South Brittany (France) is not the new benchmark for floating #offshorewind. “Governments must consider the specifics of this particular auction when defining their auction budgets and ceiling prices. Don’t take the €86/MWh bid price as a benchmark for floating wind in Europe. Otherwise you might find yourself in a similar situation to the UK last year. The UK’s 2023 offshore wind auction had a low ceiling price because they made the wrong assumptions about costs – and nobody bid,” says WindEurope CEO Giles Dickson. Denmark's unsuccessful offshore tender: where things went wrong It was disappointing to see the recent offshore auction in Denmark fall through. I'm no expert on these auctions for developing new wind projects, especially in Scandinavia. In this article, WindEurope gives their take on why the auction failed. Lessons to consider

H2Carrier AS has applied to NVE (Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) for the development of two large #onshore #windfarms in Finnmark county, #Norway, in line with government initiatives. The Oksefjorden and Rubbedalshøgda wind farms have a planned installed capacity of 1.55GW and are expected to produce 6,356GWh annually, contributing significantly to #Norway's #CO2emissions #reduction targets by 2030.
