Let's be real about something.. LinkedIn is not what it used to be.. The original purpose died, only to rise up like a phoenix & evolve into what we see today! Great as it may be.... But c'mon! SEO tactics, growth hacks, money making schemes, lead magnet manifesto, colorful carousels of brand management and stupid, shameless, made up bullsh*t stories about 'rags to riches'... Seriously?? Why does every post have to be about getting leads, revenue generation and case studies? Can't we just share something simple? Like a cucumber slice to clean the palate.. Why can't we normalize posts like this one? ⏬ LinkedIn algorithm, do something about this already 😅 . . . #foodforthought #postoftheday #life

It's difficult to believe it's been a year since our launch — and what a year it's been! I wrote a brief letter in commemoration of the 1-year anniversary of our official launch to players (full letter below). So proud of our amazing team at Smerf — and honored to have the privilege to work with amazing publisher partners to serve players around the world. We have truly been blessed to welcome thousands of players into our app and foster new connections between so many amazing people on a daily basis. Start-ups are always difficult. Going from "zero" to "one" can seem impossible at times. When this scrappy group of gamers decided to leave their tech jobs to create Smerf to evolve the online player experience; we knew it would be a challenge to say the least. But we wanted to build something for ourselves and the other amazing players like us that are building community for the games they love. So it's only appropriate that our community of players truly took us from zero to one. [FULL LETTER BELOW] To our lovely Community, Partners, and Friends, Last week, we celebrated the 1-year anniversary of our official launch. We are pleased to report that this also marks more than 365 consecutive days of positive organic growth! We cannot thank you enough for your constant support! It’s our players that bring life into our app. Smerf was founded on the belief that gaming can be a force for good. It’s a social experience that has the power to bring people together to forge new, unlikely friendships in a medium that transcends so many of the barriers that divide us in our normal day-to-day lives. Today, that belief we once held has transformed into a full-blown conviction that gaming can improve people’s lives far beyond the game itself — as we have seen it time and time again and heard it from the amazing stories sent to us by players. Since the beginning, Smerf has been all about community! It’s because of your help that we‘ve come this far, and it is an honor to continue to see those that have supported us day-in and day-out since the start — helping identify bugs, offering valuable feedback, and so much more! It’s an honor and a privilege to get to meet so many players from across the world, work with so many communities, hear so many moving stories and ultimately, have so much fun! In the upcoming year, we look forward to new releases, feature improvements, and more exciting announcements. Our commitment to make Smerf the best place to build community for players and to deliver unparalleled online services to our esteemed game partners is just getting started. A great example of how you can do good, and be a profitable business. It IS cool to care. Which really should be a baseline. If you don’t care about your clients, customers & partners, why are you doing it? This is why I know AI is not going to take over jobs and customer experience in the way people fear. How many people would either trash an automated email “thanking them” for their support? Or more likely, it goes right to spam or gets the inevitable “unsubscribe.” Now imagine getting a handwritten note or a personal gesture that can only come from human interaction. A very different experience! Let’s let AI automate things that are mundane, to support your team, so that they can do things to go the extra mile in whatever role they are in with your organization. 3,197 Thank You Letters. This was something I didn't even know our team was working on but when I heard I was blown away. Mary James, our head of teammate experience on the World Tour worked with her team to write thank you letters to every game day teammate who joined us on our past tour. Eternity Briggs and Harper teamed up with her on this project and it took 12 days to write and 4 days to address and stamp. Now that may sound crazy and not the best use of someones time. But we believe in doing the unscalable to do scalable. As Mary often shares, "It's cool to care." We want to do what others won't do and care more about not only our fans but the people who work with us. Many times, the people that worked with us for a game or two were big fans as well. And often these teammates would drive hours to work a full day taking care of our fans. It may have been their first time interacting with the Bananas and our team. But they committed themselves to our fans and our experience. And boy did they work hard serving sold out crowds with thousands of fans. Many of these amazing teammates would work a merchandise stand and interact with hundreds of people from when we opened the gates to the final out. Some even became the Nana Scanners and would wear Banana Costumes as they scanned in tickets to our shows. Everyone worked hard and became a part of the fans first family even for a day. So Mary and the team wanted to again acknowledge these people. And I'm proud to see our gratitude for what we get to do for our fans, and who we get to do it with, continues to grow.
