Awesome to see this in action! 😍 Love the simplicity.
Ease: Just place the shoebox near the sensor 📦.
Speed: Analysis is quick, providing near-instant results. ⚡️ Crucial for high volumes of goods where time is of the essence.
Non-destructive: The sensor analyzes the scent without damaging or altering the product in any way. 🌱 Essential for preserving the value of the goods being authenticated.
Compact : The sensor and its housing seem compact and portable, potentially allowing for use in retail stores to warehouses to even mobile authentication units. 📱
Looks like huge implications for industries beyond just footwear such as (other) luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, and maybe even food. 💎💊🍎

Another breakthrough by the Osmo team — a AI-enabled scent sensor the size of a backpack that can smell about as well as a person can. We used it to catch counterfeit fake shoes with 93% accuracy.
The problem is huge. Billions of dollars of counterfeit goods are circulating, but addressing this problem just the beginning of what we want to do. If we can already solve this as a young company, can you imagine what's possible next?
We're giving computers a sense of smell, and this is one step closer to our dream.

Whenever I refer to Klaus Finkenzeller's 'RFID Handbook', I wonder about the chronological development and spread of this ubiquitous piece of technology. Asianometry did a fantastic job of conducting their due research to weave together a factual yet engaging backstory on RFID. As per this video, the following entities played a big role in advancement and spread of this technology, but it is the latter three that are credited as 'fathers' of modern RFID -
1) Arthur Minassi - an engineer and a shoplifter.
2) Charles Walton - an IBM researcher.
3) Dr. Mario Cardullo - an aeronautics and mechanical engineer.
4) The American Government - they diffused this technology across applications for monitoring nukes and livestock initially, and later major retailers like Walmart adopted it for better supply chain transparency and control.
