I’m thrilled to announce the latest episode of The Nonprofit Exchange, where I had the pleasure of speaking with Brett Herbeck, the District Governor of Rotary District 7570. Our conversation was not only enlightening but also deeply inspiring, especially for those interested in community service and leadership. Here are three key takeaways that I believe everyone should consider: 1. The Power of Service Above Self Brett emphasized that Rotary is fundamentally about service. It’s a gathering of like-minded individuals who come together to make a difference in their communities and the world. This ethos of "service above self" is not just a motto; it’s a way of life that fosters connection and collaboration. Whether you’re a seasoned Rotarian or someone curious about getting involved, this principle can guide your actions and decisions in both personal and professional realms. 2. Diversity and Inclusion in Rotary One of the most refreshing aspects of our discussion was Brett’s commitment to breaking down barriers within Rotary. He highlighted that Rotary is no longer just an "old boys' club." Today, it’s a vibrant community that welcomes individuals from all walks of life, regardless of age, background, or profession. With various meeting formats and membership options, there’s a place for everyone who shares a passion for service. This inclusivity is essential for revitalizing civic engagement and building a stronger, more connected society. 3. The Importance of Community Engagement Brett passionately spoke about the need to rebuild our civil society through organizations like Rotary, churches, and local clubs. He pointed out that social media has often isolated us, leading to a decline in mental health and community connection. By participating in local service projects and engaging with others, we can combat this loneliness and create a sense of belonging. The upcoming District Conference in April is a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow Rotarians and learn about impactful projects happening in our communities. I encourage everyone to listen to this episode and reflect on how you can get involved in your community, whether through Rotary or another organization. Together, we can create lasting change and foster a spirit of collaboration and service. 🎧 Tune in now to hear more about Brett’s insights and the incredible work being done through Rotary! https://lnkd.in/eAZAMCBE #NonProfitExchange #Rotary #ServiceAboveSelf #CommunityEngagement #Leadership #DiversityAndInclusion

One of the things you hear a lot about during performance review time is about achieving goals. Sometimes those goals aren’t available within that organization. But as I always believe that you can work around things and MAKE your opportunities. Becoming President of the LIWLRA was a goal of mine, before I could articulate what I wanted to do. I have worked hard, in muddy situations, for this non-profit and have even handled some #crisiscommunication situations with a lot of grace and #thoughtleadership. If you want to grow your acumen, go outside of your role and get the #leadership skills you need to go to the next level. #MondayMotivation #Marketing #CMO #ExecutiveStrategy #Leadership

Well the word is out, I am a cover girl! I am humbled to be featured in Waconia Living magazine for the work the I am doing as President of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy and Research Association. As a marketer with extensive experience, it was fun to be in the other side of an interview. Current & former coworkers and collegues within my network have all seen me grow this part of my career from member to volunteer to leadership. Heidi Nessa, Lynn Laumann and Katie Van Vooren were awesome to work with to tell my story and help bring attention to an international 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the museums, homesites and scholastic research on this author, who grew up in several places within 4 hours of my home. ❤️ Oh, I might know a little about the tv show and its 50th anniversary, too. 😉 Thank you Kim Funk for making the contact and encouraging me to tell my story. #WaconiaLiving #Leadership #nonprofit #history #culture

Great recognition for This Way ONward! This work is crucial for bridging the opportunity gap and creating a better world! Check out the link below and vote for This Way ONward! #oldnavy
Exciting news! This Way ONward is an official finalist in the 2024 Anthem Awards, selected out of 2,300 submissions that define a new benchmark for impactful work at both non-profit and for-profit organizations. As Executive Sponsor of This Way ONward, I have seen first-hand why this program deserves recognition. Since 2007, This Way ONward has leveraged both the scale of our business and the network of our stores to unlock potential for economically marginalized, early-career talent. This Way ONward continues to expand, and our stores have developed incredible community partnerships through this program – together, we are bridging the opportunity gap by addressing the barriers to employment that youth face. A huge thank you to everyone who makes this work possible. This way ONward has my vote! Check out more from the Anthem Awards at the link below. https://lnkd.in/gPdJ_hXX

Thank you for highlighting the crucial role Black churches play in fostering philanthropy and empowering African American communities. This connection showcases their resilience and commitment. While the legacy of giving in Black churches is strong, there’s often a lack of understanding of modern fundraising techniques essential for sustained success. Many divinity schools don’t cover fundraising, leaving churches to rely on traditional methods like “passing the plate” or community fundraisers, which are often insufficient today. Modern fundraising requires strategies like timely donor recognition, annual reports, and donor segmentation, which are crucial for targeted engagement. Creating a compelling Case for Support and executing strategic solicitations are often overlooked but foundational to success. These skills are learnable. With the right guidance, Black churches can effectively implement these strategies, ensuring they thrive and serve their communities. Your article is a crucial step in starting this conversation, and I hope it encourages Black church leaders to seek the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in modern fundraising. Black churches must remain sustainable and grow for the well-being of our communities.

Hello! 🎉 We at Benvenuti Arts have been supporting artists and small arts organizations for almost 10 years, focusing on practical, tactical fundraising and administrative services. It’s clear to us, after all of this time, that fewer financial resources does not equate to lesser work; smaller groups are often so focused on their communities that things like grant writing, donor cultivation, or financial planning must be deprioritized. We want to help, even if you don’t have the resources to work with us directly. It’s with that in mind that we are relaunching our communications channels! With a core value to be of service to the small and mighty arts organizations and artists out there, we will continue with our consulting and capacity building services while building out our public channels to also provide some practical tools to anyone who needs them. It is our hope that more groups can benefit, even if they are not our direct client. So if you are looking for: 📍 Industry articles along with our own thoughts, follow us here on LinkedIn. 📚 Practical tools and tips for arts administrators, as well as BA’s take on industry occurrences, check out our Blog. 📥 Monthly lists of upcoming grants, links to resources, and other advice targeted to small arts groups and independent artists, sign up for our monthly newsletter. ♻ Snippets from our trainings and workshops, and features from our clients, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, our Clients and Members receive monthly emails with insights and guidance just for them. 👯♀️ We want to keep this information simple, informative, and, above all, practical. Just like our work with clients, these tools only work if you are able to actually use them! So we hope you’ll engage, provide feedback, and share anything you feel was useful to you. We’ll see you online! 🎭 🔮 #benvenutiarts #fundraising #artsmanagement #IndieSpaceNYC #gallim #choralcameleon #developingartists #sozowithus #AlphabetRockers #BloomingdaleSchoolOfMusic #frigidnyc #kr3ts #forgottenfutures #btfa #concerttheatreworks #braataproductions

Do you sometimes feel a sense of grey despair at the thought of another family of person being impacted by DV and you don't know what to do? Well, there is a simple solution and inexpensive one - you can help us to strengthen the individuals who choose to make a difference and step into the awful world of DV as true super heroes. It is simple and direct - we're building up the front line with praise to be the generational change in DV. Everyone needs praise and these folks are often the unsung heroes of our society. So don't despair! Next time you and your mates are filled with despair at what to do, instead drop $5 in the awards jar and help us to highlight what good humans are doing. We want these front-line warriors of all shapes and sizes to be the headline, not the incidents. Here's the link - drop us a fiver and know you are helping to make a difference today. https://lnkd.in/gegZzPdz
